Meanwhile another wrote: ‘Pink, nursing home chic.’

A third added: ‘I like the wallpaper in the kitchen in the pink house, but the rest…’

However another wrote: ‘If I was 25 again, I’d love the pink house.’

At it’s heart was an enormous hallway, as well as three bedrooms, a small kitchen and large living space.

Digital communications officer Flo said: ‘I couldn’t be more excited to have my own space but as a first home I wanted a big communal social space.

‘At the moment, this flat doesn’t really have that.’

She called the hallway ‘big and useless’, saying: ‘And then there is a tiny kitchen.

‘It’s too small. Ideally when I’ve got family and friends over, I’d like to be able to cook and socialise at the same time. And that doesn’t allow for that.

‘This feels like the hub of the flat, the hallway.’

At 946 sq feet, the flat had an amazing footprint. but Flo wanted plenty of room for friends to stay.

During the £25,000 renovation, she knocked down a number of walls in the flat and painted the space

She had a budget of £25,000 which George said would have to work ‘very hard.’

He suggested moving a wall between the kitchen and living space, saying: ‘Open plan living only works when you’ve got the space between the different zones.’

She said: ‘I’m thinking pink, I like pastel colours. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a pink kitchen, so why not do it.’

The renovation quickly got underway, with the builders ripping down walls. Flo said: ‘Wow, this is a big change. It feels like a really big day! It’s time to start thinking about design.’

To pull off her pink home, she went with pastel pink kitchen units, while orange also loomed large in furnishings and accessories.

A mural helped to define the space, while the other furniture helped create a young and retro feel.

Her pastel pink kitchen was quickly fitted, Flo said: ‘My younger self would be so pleased that I followed through and actually got a pink kitchen.’

As George arrived to see the finished flat, he was blown away by Flo’s pink staircase and matching runner.

And the flat couldn’t be more different – with Flo explaining: ‘I’m thrilled with it. It looks great, but it fulfils the function that I need it too.’

George said she ‘wanted something stylish and fun’, adding: ‘I love the way you’ve defined different zones, I love the mural on the wall.

‘I love how you’ve picked up tones of colour which you’ve used elsewhere.’

Many of those watching were left divided over Flo’s pink renovation with the flat, with one saying it was ‘nursing home chic’

Meanwhile Flo said the kitchen was ‘perfect’, adding: ‘It’s come out exactly how i wanted it. The space just works so well in terms of hosting, having people over.

‘It’s exactly how I’ve wanted it.’

She said she spent exactly £25,000 on the budget, saying: ‘I couldn’t go over, it wasn’t really an option.’

George said he ‘took his hat off to her’,  saying: ‘You set off to do something brave and fun.’
