- The national chain will screen a majority of the Women’s World Cup
Weatherspoon is making a major change at hundreds of its pubs that is sure to go down a treat with customers.
On Thursday, a number of its 827 pubs will be screening the Women’s World Cup, with only a few number of its pubs not airing the event due to having any screens.
The national chain will screen a majority of the fixtures at the Women’s World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand, this includes the Lionesses’ first game against Haiti on Saturday, July 22.
The news comes after the nation chain for the first time ever screened the men’s 2022 Qatar World Cup that took place last December.
A spokesman for the pub said: ‘Television coverage of the matches will be screened at the pubs for the duration of the tournament, which concludes with the final on Sunday, August 20 at 11am.

There are currently 19 of the pub giant’s boozers under offer, while twenty have already closed for good.
Last November, Wetherspoon announced it was in the process of selling 39 of its pubs due to its inability to match its pre-pandemic performance.
