Wetherspoons has made menu change with three new drinks – but fans are divided | The Sun

WETHERSPOONS has shaken up its drinks menu and it has stirred up fans of the popular pub chain.

Spoons has launched a "Signature Cocktail Range" in 150 boozers, and one in particular has already been labelled "the worst drink in the world".

The signature range launched in February 2023 initially trialling in 120 pubs predominantly in the London area.

It has since been rolled out to 150 pubs, including some in Ireland and Scotland.

The range sits alongside the classic cocktail range also on trial which includes Espresso Martini, Strawberry Daiquiri and Tommy’s Margarita.

This also includes the spritz range which includes the Citrus Spritz, made with Ciroc.

The signature range consists of three cocktails, Tennessee Apple and Raspberry, Strawberry Porn Star Martini and Bubbletiser.

And it is the Bubbletiser cocktail that is causing some controversy among its loyal customers.

The Bubbletiser is a bubble gum vodka-based cocktail, that is made up of Au Vodka bubble gum and bubble gum syrup, topped with apple juice and lemonade, then garnished with lemon.

For those with a sweet tooth, this might seem like the perfect combination, but not everyone is a fan.

One Twitter user posted a picture of the Bubbletiser and wrote: "Regret to inform everyone that Wetherspoons is now serving the worst drink in the world."

And one person responded: "Oh NO absolutely not."

While another replied: "CLOSE IT DOWN."

Over on Reddit, one user admitted to being "really curious how apple and bubblegum go together" while another loved the idea and thought the Bubbletiser "actually sounds great".

One person who had tried the drink was reluctant to give it a rave review but thought that the title "worst drink in the world" was a little too harsh, reported LadBible.

The Reddit user, who appeared to be an employee of one of the pubs where the trial menu is in place, wrote: "This is a trial menu being put out across Wetherspoon pubs in the UK.

"All of the signature cocktails are from what we already had behind the bar that we weren't selling enough of.

"The Bubbletiser sounds rank but isn't too awful."

The other cocktails in the range are Tenessee Apple and Raspberry, and Strawberry Porn Star Martini.

All of the cocktails in the signature range are available to purchase in "Any 2 for" deal (excluding Scotland).

Prices vary between pubs but for an individual cocktail serve, prices start from £4.44.

Wetherspoons is not the only chain to offer up cocktails on the menu.

Hungry Horse has a 2 for £7 deal, although its main offering is slightly more traditional with the choice of Cherry Royale, Strawberry Woo Woo and Pimm's and Lemonade.

However, it does look like the options vary depending on location, as Greene Man in Chingford lists a Fruit Salad cocktail which is made up of Smirnoff Red, Melon Midori and Blue Curacao topped with Schweppes Lemonade and orange juice.

A list of all of the Wetherspoons locations that are trialling the Signature Cocktails is listed below.
