Woman buys cheap fake grass to save money but watches as it melts in the sun

A former flight attendant regretted trying to save some money on garden upkeep after realising her fake grass "melted" in the hot summer weather.

Sandra Kwon, who goes by "Jeenie Weenie" on TikTok, shared her purchase when she first moved from Vancouver, Canada to Los Angeles in the US.

She wanted to cut down spending on regular gardening maintenance and instead opted for a "fuss-free" version of astroturf.

Sharing what happened next to her TikTok followers, she put on a soundtrack that played "oh no" in the background.

"When you're cheap so you decide to buy fake grass from AliExpress and didn't take into account what the materials are made of and forget how hot Los Angeles can get…" Sandra said.

The shocked expression on her face left many fans speechless.

She flipped her camera to show her "garden" — with a handful of patches of artificial grass scattered on the black gauze at the bottom.

The supposedly dense and luscious alternative to real grass had melted under the blazing California sun.

"You get what you pay for," Sandra added. "When I got it, it looked decent. Now I wouldn't even call it a turf."

One fan writing on TikTok believed the issue was "poor quality product being sold at a cheap price".

A second person added: "At least now we know what happens if we do buy fake grass from AliExpress."

Meanwhile a woman in the UK had the last laugh after turning a recycled cow through into a £300 swimming pool.

Zoe was warned by many that it's a "bad idea" to splash out on an outdoor pool.

But now as the heatwave hit, she has been enjoying it with "zero regret".

She installed the pool underground and added a wooden deck with a parasol next to it, turning her English garden to a sunny beach resort.
