You’ve been cooking chicken wrong – simple marinade makes it extra juicy

Chicken has a tendency to go dry if you over-cook it – so if you often make this mistake in the kitchen, listen up.

A foodie called Elliott has shared a simple hack to make the "juiciest chicken you will ever have".

All you'll need to do is mash a kiwi up and mix it in with some olive oil to create a marinade.

Season generously with salt and pepper and pour the sauce over your poultry for an hour or more before you start cooking.

In a viral TikTok video, Elliott said: "They key to the juiciest chicken you'll ever have is actually a kiwi. The chicken melts in your mouth. Yum."

Elliott continued: "So take the kiwi out, blend it up or break it down a bit with your spoon.

"Have you ever seen people put limes in their marinades? It's similar to that.

"It breaks down the chicken and makes it super tender…

"Now you're going to let this marinade for about an hour.

"I know it looks weird but trust me. Sweet and sour and it's going to be so juicy…

"All this just with a kiwi!"

According to the Mirror, Elliott added in the caption that he had learned the trick in Africa.

He said that while it might "sound crazy", it's something people should trust him on.

In the comments, several people helped to explain that the trick works because of enzymes in the kiwi.

One person said: "It’s the actinidain enzymes. Guava also does it without imparting as much sweetness as pineapple does."

While another added: "It's the same with pineapple or mango. The enzymes in them break down the chicken and make it super tender."
