Grass Puppies is a hobby farm in Birmingham, Alabama, home to donkeys and Scottish highland cows but specialising in selling miniature cows.

On the TikTok page @grasspuppiesfarm, Grass Puppies Farm has introduced the world to MarshMellow, a micro cow roughly the same size as a dog.

The farm’s videos show MarshMellow as well as other miniature cows being dressed up in sweaters, being crate trained and being lifted up and carried with only one arm. The miniature cows sleep inside the house wrapped in blankets and even accompany the farmer inside a store to do some shopping.

On its website, Grass Puppies Farm has confirmed that both mini and micro cows are real. Any cow over the age of three years old that is 36 inches or under is a mico cow, while a mini cow between 37 and 42 inches is a mini cow.

The price for these adorable pets ranges between $3,000 to $30,000, and how much one sells for depends on a number of factors such as colouring, hair length, size and gender.

Most of the farm’s female cows are still young, and the farm is only expecting a “handful” of both mini and micro cows to be born in 2023. One of their newest cows born on the farm is Divinity, a mini high park heifer who is only expected to be around 41 inches once she matures.

The farm has clarified that its videos of the miniature cows living inside a home are only for fun and that most cows are only allowed inside the home if they are sick or injured. However, their social media feature many adorable videos, such as the miniature cows playing with puppies inside the home and even cuddling with people on a sofa.

One of the farmers appears to have adopted one cow, and the little creature seems to spend a lot of time inside their home. On its TikTok page, the farm has spoken at length about Sugarbun, a premature miniature cow

Sugarbun was born three weeks too early and was not able to stand up to be nursed when she was born. She only weighed 18 pounds when she was born, but most calves should be over 35 pounds at birth.

The farmer has been attempting to get Sugarbun to feed, but has not been able to get her to latch onto a bottle, and has had to spend time in critical care at the vet. Sugarbun’s life hung in the balance, with farmers not sure she would make it.

Thankfully, as of February, Sugarbun seems to be doing fine and the farmer said she has made friends with another young cow Divinity and follows MarshMellow around everywhere. In the video, they said: “I feared the worst. But Sugar is a fighter, she has been fighting for her life since the day she was born.”

Sugarbun sleeps inside a dog bed near a fireplace and even has her own specialised socks, which she wears inside the farmer’s home. They said: “Sugar was very happy with her new family, as long as she was the spoiled one that got to sleep on her bed, [or] sometimes in her crate. But her favourite spot will always be on my lap.”

Sugarbun’s story has millions of views on TikTok, as people have been following her recovery. On the farm’s page, both Sugarbun and MarshMellow seem to be the mascots of Grass Puppies farm as they have become so popular that the farm is selling t-shirts and water bottles of the pair.

In the comment section, people are happy that Sugarbun is now perfectly healthy. One commentator said her story was “a complete children’s series in the making.”

Another person said: “Oh my Gosh, I’m crying What a special story!” while somebody else said: “She is beautiful and I’m sobbing now. So glad she is living her best life.”
