David Raya on Ramsdale relationship
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has opened up on his relationship with Aaron Ramsdale, whose position as No1 he has claimed in recent weeks.
Speaking to The Athletic, the Spaniard said: "The relationship? It’s very good.
"At the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems.
"We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down (he does the same).
"We train three goalkeepers, four at the most, for hours a week, and you need that kind of relationship because otherwise, the training is not going to go well."

Guirassy to Arsenal?
Arsenal have been linked with Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy ahead of the January transfer window.
However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is "not aware" of any contact between Guirassy and the Gunners.
Serhou Guirassy – For sure clubs are following the in-form Stuttgart striker, but at the moment I’m not aware of any contact with Chelsea or Arsenal, that would be pure guessing as I’m not aware of any negotiation or contact.
I think we should also respect Stuttgart, he’s a key player for them and his focus is 100% on Stuttgart.

Raya on Neville
Arsenal ace David Raya addressed criticism from pundits like Manchester United Gary Neville after the Gunners' recent win over Manchester City.
It’s something I have internalised, but it’s also the coach’s orders.
What he doesn’t want is for us to start hitting balls — we have to invite a player [opponent to press] to come out a little bit. I’m the free man, and once a striker or someone jumps me, that leaves a free man on the pitch, and we have to look for superiority.
That’s the way the coach tells me to play. The fans aren’t used to us goalkeepers having the ball for a long time and if they [the opponents] don’t press, you have to wait for the moment to pass the ball.
It’s a risk that we take, but I take the responsibility that if, one day, there’s a mistake I’ll raise my hand. There’s no way around it.

The next Bellingham?
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes record signing Declan Rice could develop in a more advanced midfielder role like Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham, according to insider Ben Jacobs.
I would be reticent to compare Rice and Bellingham directly. But the point of saying this is that if you look at Bellingham at [Borussia] Dortmund, he scored eight league goals over the course of 31 games in his final season.
At Real Madrid, he has been given more license to push forwards and be more explosive. He sees more of the ball and has others working on the ball for him, which allows him to create more space than at Dortmund. He has already got eight goals in La Liga, which is the same total as he got in the Bundesliga at Dortmund last season, but in way fewer games.
I think Arsenal feel like, to some extent, Rice has that potential to suddenly explode in an attacking sense if he is given that freedom.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he is given a bit more freedom and trialled in a more advanced position, especially because others in that central attacking midfield role – when utilised – haven’t always excelled.

Raya on Ramsdale
David Raya insists he has a “very good relationship” with Aaron Ramsdale – despite taking his No1 jersey at Arsenal, writes SunSport's Jordan Davies.
The relationship [with Ramsdale] its very good. We are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems.
We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down [he does the same].
I’m going to fight for it. [Mikel]Arteta gives me the confidence to be there. He wanted to have two top players in each position. It was up to me to find the time and fight to get the minutes.
I don’t want to think beyond that. If there are rotations, as there are in any position, I’m going to help on and off the pitch.

Ad to be said
Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Adebayor has called on Gooners to "forget" his famous celebration for Manchester City against them 14 years ago.
I think the fans can forget what happened in 2009 when I ran the length of the pitch.
Today I will make it clear, I don't think any human being would accept it if people were singing about and insulting your family, especially your mother and father. I would do anything for my mother and father. It's behind me now, I hope it is behind them.
We all love football and every once in a while when they see that celebration on television and social media, hopefully now they can laugh it off and move on.
That's what I wish for the Arsenal fans and I wish them the best of luck this year.

Walk the talk
Manchester City star Kyle Walker will apologise to Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover after their Premier League bust-up.
I don’t like losing.A couple of matches before, Nico did not want to shake hands when we beat them.
When we lost, he wanted to shake my hand and I did not take it lightly.I will probably reach out to him. It was probably a bit too much.
It was a big match there and losing in the way we did and so late on hurt.

Gunner for life
Arsenal ace Mohamed Elneny has revealed that he cried when the club offered him a contract extension.
After suffering a serious knee issue in January, Elneny feared that his career with the Gunners was over.
However, the North Londoners opted to keep the midfielder around by giving him a one-year extension.
It was one of the happiest days in my life. The way they spoke to me, the way the entire club was happy about this decision, they made me cry this day.
Arsenal Football Club, they know I love them 100 per cent, so much. They know I don’t want to leave. I want to stay and finish my career there, 100 per cent.
I was injured and my contract was finishing and I could not play anymore last season, and they came straight away after I got injured, the next day and said: ‘Mo, what sort of contract will it have to be? We love you here and we want you to stay’. Really, this club is great.
