Aston Villa boss Unai Emery wants stunning reunion with former player and Tottenham flop in summer transfer | The Sun

ASTON VILLA boss Unai Emery is reportedly plotting a reunion with a Tottenham flop in the summer transfer window.

The 51-year-old Spaniard has performed a stunning job since replacing Steven Gerrard in the Villa Park dug-out in October.

Last night’s 1-0 victory over Fulham stretched their unbeaten Premier League run to ten and lifted the Villans above Tottenham into fifth.

Emery is now closing in on bringing European football back to Villa for the first time in 13 years and a fresh report states he is already looking for reinforcements to bolster his squad.

And one of those is an Argentina international that played for him at former side Villarreal.

According to the Daily Mail, Villa are “keeping a watchful eye on Giovani Lo Celso's performances” as they weigh-up a move.

Lo Celso is currently on loan at Villarreal from Tottenham after initially spending the second half of last season there.

He made 26 appearances under Emery on loan at Villarreal last term and helped the club reach the Champions League semi-final.

The ace has made a further 21 appearances in this campaign and shone against Sevilla on Sunday after being deployed as a false nine.

Spurs still want to sell Lo Celso on a permanent basis and have inserted a clause in his loan deal that allowed the club to listen to transfer offers back in January but a switch failed to materialise.

The South American is under contract in North London until 2025 and Tottenham allegedly remain “happy to sell”.
