Chelsea vs Brentford betting tips

Dead rubber? Not far off. It's 10th vs 11th in the division as Chelsea welcome Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The two sides share a fairly similar record this season having both won ten matches, both are clear of relegation and neither appear likely to trouble the European places.

Both sides also share some pretty poor form with the pair having collected just two from a possible 15 points from their last five matches.

Caretaker manager Frank Lampard is still looking for his first victory since replacing Graham Potter. In fact, he's still looking for his first points after four-successive defeats to Wolves, Brighton and Real Madrid.

Having been excellent for the majority of the season, the Bees are now winless in their last six, drawing three and losing three.

Double chance…

It's going to take some effort for these Chelsea players to summon the enthusiasm after their season was effectively ended when crashing out of the Champions League last week.

They remain in limbo with Frank Lampard at the helm, who they'll know has little to no chance of landing the role on a permanent basis.

The Blues have managed just ONE goal in their last six matches in all competitions, and are without a victory of any kind in their last seven outings.

Though they've struggled for victories, Brentford aren't exactly 'on the beach' and should have taken all three points against in-form Aston Villa over the weekend.

With the prospect of finishing above their West London rivals at stake, we think Brentford will get something from this week's contest.

  • Our tip: Brentford double chance at 6/5 with William Hill

Dry…

As mentioned, we don't expect this to be a classic. The reverse fixture was a goalless draw at the Gtech Community Stadium back in October 2022, and it could be a similar affair on Wednesday.

Brentford have blanked in their last two away matches against Manchester United and Wolves, while Chelsea have a single goal in their last four at Stamford Bridge.

If there is to be a winner, it's likely to be 1-0 either way and that's why we're backing under 1.5 goals scored.

  • Our tip: Under 1.5 goals scored at 12/5 with William Hill

First goalscorer

If Brentford do score, it's usually Ivan Toney celebrating.

The England international, 27, has bagged 19 Premier League goals in 30 appearances this season, and trails only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot.

He scored the opener against Aston Villa on Saturday, and has three in his last five for the Bees.

He's available at 5/1 to score the opening goal on Wednesday, but the safer option could be to back him at 29/10 to score Brentford's opening goal.

  • Our tip: Ivan Toney to score Brentford's first goal at 29/10 with William Hill
