Leeds vs Newcastle betting tips
The stage is set and the stakes are high as Champions League contenders Newcastle visit relegation-threatened Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday. It's a lunchtime kick-off that will have massive repercussions at either end of the table.
Leeds are anchored in 19th position with 30 points, level with Leicester but two behind Everton after their emphatic victory over Brighton.
Not only do Sam Allardyce's side trail in the points column, but their goal difference is now -25, which is four worse than the Toffees and 10 worse than the Foxes.
Allardyce and co. weren't able to wave the magic wand against Manchester City last weekend, but they were far from disgraced when losing 2-1 at the Etihad.
In fact, in some ways it might have been ideal preparation for their final three games against Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are in a commanding position to qualify for UEFA's top competition. Eddie Howe's side are in third and two points ahead of fourth-placed Manchester United.
However, Liverpool are absolutely flying and could swoop late to secure a top-four finish, especially given Arsenal's 2-0 at St James' Park on Sunday.
Don't overthink it…
Most cliches would lead punters towards a Leeds win this weekend. Fighting for their lives, on home turf and with relegation expert Sam Allardyce now hoping for a new manager bounce.
But the bare facts don't lie, Leeds have been atrocious in recent weeks. The Yorkshire club have lost five of their last six by an aggregate score of 20-6.
Arsenal did end Newcastle's three-game winning streak, but that's hardly a shock given their exploits this season.
The Toon have scored goals for fun against those below them in the division with 13 netted in their previous three against Southampton, Everton and Tottenham. They actually won five of their last seven with both teams scoring, and we think that's likely to happen again on Saturday.
- Our tip: Newcastle to win BTTS at 11/5 with William Hill
Wilson win
Callum Wilson is enjoying himself recently. The England international has bagged five goals in his last three appearances, including braces against Everton and Southampton.
The 31-year-old has 15 goals in 27 Premier League matches this term, with six of those away from St James' Park.
Alexander Isak and Wilson started together for the first time on Sunday, with the former playing off the left and Wilson in the central role.
Wilson boasts more efforts on target than any Newcastle player of the last four game weeks, and we think he'll fill his boots against a low-block Leeds.
- Our tip: Callum Wilson to score 2+ goals at 5/1 with William Hill
Sven gem
Sven Botman is available at 18/5 to muster just one effort on target this weekend. The centre-back, 23, is yet to open his account for Newcastle, but he's inched closer in recent weeks.
The Dutchman has had FIVE efforts at goal in the last four matches, and two of those were on target. He's a danger from set-pieces, as are Newcastle who've scored seven from corners this season.
That's not great news for Leeds, who've conceded 134 goal attempts from set pieces and 79 from headed attempts in 35 matches.
- Our tip: Sven Botman 1+ shot on target at 18/5 with William Hill
