CHELSEA were bailed out late on by a Mason Mount screamer after a comedy own goal by Reece James.
Timo Werner was also on the scoresheet as the Blues scored a victory over the Liga MX side in Las Vegas.
Supporters were hoping to see summer signings Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly in action, but neither of them made their debuts.

Man of the match
Despite Mason Mount stealing the show late on with a thunderous strike, it was a different English creator that takes the man of the match award at SunSport this morning.
And no, it's not Ross Barkley.
Conor Gallagher was brilliant in the first half, and controlled the game as well as showing great finesse in the midfield areas.
Who gets your vote for man of the match?

Props to Club America.
While it was evident that this was Chelsea’s first game back, and there were signs of not playing a match for a few months, Club America were no pushovers.
The Mexicans had some chances, and looked like a good side when they were in possession, they just lacked that finishing touch at times.
They made it difficult for Chelsea in spells, and whilst Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated possession, Club America looked dangerous on the break.

Job done.
Chelsea made it difficult at times, but they got the job done in Las Vegas.
Timo Werner opened the scoring at the second attempt, after his initial effort was blocked on the goal line.
But the Blues joy was short lived, as a mix up between Reece James and Bettinelli meant that it was all level within five minutes.
Mason Mount's brilliance came to the rescue in the 83rd minute, as the Cobham academy product hit a beauty from outside the box.

So close.

83. Chelsea 2-1 Club America
Reece James plays a cross field ball to Marcos Alonso, who finds Mason Mount on the edge of the area.
Mount hits the strike from the edge of the box, next to no backlift, and it nestles into the right hand side of the net.
Top class goal from a top class player.

78. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Club America get through on goal here, but there is heavy pressure from the Chelsea defenders.
Martinez cannot quite get the shot off, and it is a goal kick for Chelsea.

76. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Club America are coming forwards, but that leaves space for Chelsea on the counter attack with Pulisic.
He finds Batshuayi, who is offside, and misses the target anyway.
Great work from Pulisic, poor from the Belgian.

72. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Alonso does really well to pick out Timo Werner, but his first touch lets him down.
A cross then comes in from Emerson towards Pulisic, but the American heads over.
It is all Chelsea as we speak.

70. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Reece James pings a great raking ball across the pitch, before receiving it again and looking for Batshuayi, who doesn't make the best of contact.
- Lloyd Canfield
68. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Batshuayi is shooting on sight every chance he gets, but his quality of shot has not been all that great so far.
Chelsea have looked the more dangerous of the two sides, with Mount, Werner and James all impressing.
- Lloyd Canfield
64. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
It's Mount, to James, back to Mount.
They have an almost telepathic connection, but Mount's cross cannot find anyone in the middle.
- Lloyd Canfield
62. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Well, that was not in the script, we find ourselves at 1-1 here in Las Vegas, and all of a sudden the game has opened up.
James went from hero to zero within five minutes there, as he played a great cross to setup Timo Werner, and then a misjudged backpass caught out Bettinelli in the Chelsea goal.
- Lloyd Canfield
60. Chelsea 1-1 Club America
Goal for Club America! Own goal from Reece James!
- Lloyd Canfield
56. Chelsea 1-0 Club America
Goal for Chelsea! Timo Werner!
- Lloyd Canfield
54. Chelsea 0-0 Club America
Batshuayi sees a half chance and lashes a shot goalwards, but it is slightly over the bar.
He has been a good servant for Chelsea over the years, with some big goals, but you would think his time is over with the Blues now.
