Chelsea interested in Benjamin Pavard transfer with Bayern Munich 'holding showdown talks over his future' | The Sun

CHELSEA have reportedly declared an interest in Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.

Pavard, 26, has held discussions with the German champions about leaving the club.

According to Sky Germany, the talks "do not rule out a separation".

The French international is unhappy at potentially losing his place in the team after Bayern signed Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax.

Chelsea are said to have already "signalled an interest" in Pavard.

His contract in Munich runs until 2024 but the club could cash in if he remains unhappy.

Pavard has been further put off by the club's continued quest to land Matthijs de Ligt.

Bayern are reportedly set to pip Chelsea to the signing of De Ligt with the star preferring the Bavarian outfit.

And this will further reduce Pavard's chances of playing in his "desired position" at centre-back.

Pavard has played 119 times for the Bundesliga winners and scored five goals with 11 assists.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also keen on the ex-Lille man.

The centre of defence has been identified as an area which desperately needs strengthening for Thomas Tuchel's team.

Tuchel has already watched both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave on free transfers.

The Blues are considering a move for £34million-rated Presnel Kimpembe from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 26-year-old has been chased by Stamford Bridge bosses in both the past two transfer windows.

And reports claim that "interest from Chelsea still exists" over Kimpembe.

Manchester City's Nathan Ake also remains a transfer target.
