CHELSEA are reportedly close to securing a sensational £77m deal for RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol – but the defender won't join until next summer.
Meanwhile, more talks are scheduled with Barcelona on Wednesday for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has joined Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan as the winger looks to salvage his fading World Cup prospects.
And Wesley Fofana is undergoing a medical in the US after the Blues £70m-plus offer was accepted by Leicester, with an announcement expected IMMINENTLY.

Ziyech set for shock move?
Shocking reports are emerging that Hakim Ziyech could be set to join Chelsea's rivals Tottenham.
The Moroccan has been linked with a transfer to AC Milan this summer but it is believed he is now going to re-join his former club Ajax after they sold Antony to Man Utd for £85million.
But there have been claims that Spurs have shown late interest in him with Antonio Conte looking to help provide competition for Dejan Kulusevski.

De Jong in London
Frenkie de Jong is reportedly in London right now amid speculation he may join Chelsea.
Sky Sports report that the Dutchman, who has been a target for Manchester United all summer, is England fuelling rumours he could move to a Premier League club.
But, he claims Barcelona players have been given two days off after their win over Real Valladolid and he has coincidentally chosen to spend some time in the city where Chelsea play and United have offices in.

Angry Chelsea fans
Chelsea fans were left fuming after last night's defeat to Southampton with some taking to social media to vent their frustrations.
One said: "Another abysmal pathetic lacklustre display, Tuchel full of ridiculous excuses, it’s not just this season but since the new year, home form shocking."
Another blamed Tuchel and his recruitment: "Tuchel has until the World Cup break to fix this. Blank check-book all summer and chooses not to sign a new midfielder or some competent forwards."
Many supporters cried out for the club to bring in a striker with Kai Havertz out-of-form and Armando Broja coming on off the bench when they needed a goal.

Chelsea suffer Gvardiol blow
It is not just Anthony Gordon who appears to not be heading to Chelsea.
RB Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff has ruled out selling Josko Gvardiol to Chelsea or anyone else before the deadline.
Reports had suggested Chelsea were on the verge of buying the centre-back for £75million and were going to loan him back to Leipzig.
But Mintzlaff has said to Bild: "I can confirm that Josko will play with us this season and very likely next."

Brighton want Gilmour
Brighton are considering a late swoop for Billy Gilmour, according to reports.
However a loan deal would not be available due to Premier League rules.
The Seagulls already have Levi Colwill on loan from Chelsea, and a team can only loan one player from another Prem club.
The 21-year-old was initially not handed a squad number at Chelsea prior to the start of the season but he now had and was on the bench last night in the loss to Southampton.
Gilmour is looking to rejuvenate his career after a tough loan spell at Norwich last season.

Chelsea dealt Gordon blow
Asked whether there was a chance Gordon could leave after he scored for Everton last night, Lampard said: “No.
“He’s too important a player and I think he showed his worth in the last two games.
“And with two days now to go [until the transfer window closes], what good would it do us to do anything with Anthony?
“On a bigger picture than that, he is our player who we’ve developed and there’s an affiliation with him and the fans and vice versa.
“Clearly, the interest has been there because he’s a top player. And that’s why we’re so keen to keep him.”

Weak Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel continued to hit out at his players for not being strong enough and not having the right attitude.
"We were not tough enough as a team. Soft defending.
"What stops that is pure mentality, stop it with defending mentality.
"There is no superiority for the opponent, there is no need to give shots away, just toughen up as a team and show a different mentality.
"I don't like to talk about it normally because you cannot prove it with data or tactical position,
"But it is like this, both goals are cheap, soft goals and should not happen if you expect to win a match in the evening at an away stadium."

Tuchel slams players
Following last night's loss to Southampton, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel did not hold back in his post-match interview.
He suggested his side aren't good enough at the moment as the away day struggles continue.
Tuchel said: "We are not tough enough to win these matches away. It was the same story in Leeds [where they lost 3-0].
"One set piece again, one sloppy defending again, we were off-balance and we did not react to it.

Poor Performance
Things started so positively for Chelsea last night up against Southampton but it ended awfully.
The Blues were creating chances and Raheem Sterling netted his third goal in two games to put them 0-1 up.
However, after Romeo Lavia's long shot to equalise Chelsea did not respond.
They were overrun an out-worked by the desire and intensity Southampton had as Chelsea lacked team cohesion.
We will have all the reaction throughout the day, here.

Good morning Chelsea fans
It was a miserable result for Chelsea again last night as they lost 2-1 at the hands of Southampton at St Mary's Stadium.
The Blues suffered their second defeat in three matches as Southampton beat them 2-1 at St Mary’s on Tuesday night.
They were subjected to more dismay on Tuesday night as goals from Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstong handed Southampton a 2-1 victory.
Raheem Sterling’s opener looked to have given Tuchel’s men the perfect start.
However, Saints had completely turned the tables before the break and held on to secure a superb win.
Elsewhere, Chelsea reportedly flew Wesley Fofana to the US for his medical to ease club owner Todd Boehly’s concerns over the defender’s injury record.
He’ll be unveiled as a Chelsea player once the results of his medical are confirmed.

Chelsea in talks to sign Josko Gvardiol
Chelsea are in advanced talks with RB Leipzig to sign defender Josko Gvardiol for £77 million, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer guru tweeted: “Deal would be completed now but with Gvardiol staying at RB Leipzig, he’d join Chelsea in June 2023.”
Chelsea have been in the market for centre-backs this summer following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of last season.

Update on Fofana
Chelsea reportedly flew Wesley Fofana to the US for his medical to ease club owner Todd Boehly's concerns over the defender's injury record.
Fofana is on the cusp of completing a £70million plus hefty add-ons switch to the Blues from Leicester.
The 21-year-old agreed personal terms on a contract that will see him remain at Stamford Bridge until 2028.
His transfer to West London was in doubt due to the Foxes' reluctance to sell him before they finally wilted last week.
And he'll be unveiled as a Chelsea player once the results of his medical are confirmed.

But they were subjected to more dismay on Tuesday night as goals from Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstong handed Southampton a 2-1 victory.
Raheem Sterling's opener looked to have given Tuchel's men the perfect start.

Southampton 2-1 Chelsea
I'll let SunSport's Joe Adams do the talking, straight from our live blog:
Oh my word, how did Southampton not score?!
Armstrong picks out Perraud in space. He stands a nice cross up to an unmarked Elyounoussi who's header is brilliantly cleared off the line by Cucurella.
Elyounoussi then has another go, spinning and hitting one on the volley. But Mendy can get both his gloves it.

Half time: Southampton 1-1 Chelsea
Armstrong fires Southampton in front.
A brilliant move by Southampton ends in the top corner.
Diallo is calm in posession, finding Ward-Prowse in space who sprays one wide to Perraud.
The full-back fires the cut-back to Armstrong who takes one touch before producing an unstoppable shot past Mendy and into the top corner.

Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

But Romeo Lavia answers with an excellent curler from the edge of the box.

Will Blues be able to stop Adams?
Southampton’s Che Adams has made a fine start to the season with four goals already – so will Chelsea be able to handle him tonight?
Manchester United just about managed to keep the Scotland striker quiet in their tight 1-0 win over the Saints on Saturday.
But the evolving Blues backline has already conceded six Prem goals this season and will need to be on their game to shut him out again.
Saint boss Ralph Hasenhuttl told the pre-match press conference: “I think the shape and the behaviour we are doing at the moment really suits him.
“You can see that he feels comfortable in the centre as a single striker supported by the other two guys from outside.
“I’m sure he will come into a position where he can score for us often and this is what is our job to do.”
Good so far… it's 0-0 at St Mary's Stadium.

Here come the players!
The players emerge from the tunnel to a buzzing St Mary's atmosphere.
Southampton wear their traditional red and white strip, whilst Chelsea wear their royal blue home shirt.

Chelsea starting XI
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel makes three changes from the side that beat Leicester over the weekend.

There is a start for Azpilicueta, with James absent from the squad with illness.
Ziyech also comes in for the suspended Gallagher.
Mendy; Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly, Cucurella; Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Mount; Ziyech, Havertz, Sterling.

Hudson-Odoi on loan switch
Hudson-Odoi, the new No17, said: "I’m definitely excited. I think it’s a new experience for me – I haven’t been anywhere else but Chelsea.
“The project [is attractive]. I said to the family that I want to go out there and make sure that I’m playing football and get the opportunity to play in front of great fans. It’s massive for me to come here.
"Kai Havertz told me it’s amazing, obviously, that everyone around that he’s been with the past years have been amazing for him.
"He enjoyed every moment of it and he said you’ll love it over there – just go, do you and be confident and everything will go well.”

Hudson-Odoi joins Leverkusen on loan
Callum Hudson-Odoi has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the season – and thanked Kai Havertz for convincing him to try his luck abroad.
But there is NO option for the Bundesliga side to buy the Chelsea winger in the contract.
Hudson-Odoi, 21, was an unused sub in the Blues' last three Premier League games and has not played a competitive minute of football since March 2 against Luton in the FA Cup.
The arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella have further hindered his chances of game time either at wing-back or in attack.
But now he can get regular action in Germany's top flight under Gerardo Seoane.

Game night
Chelsea will be determined to build on their gruelling win over Leicester City with a victory TONIGHT against Southampton.
The Blues were staring down the barrel of another bad day at the office when Conor Gallagher was shown a red card following two reckless challenges.
However, Raheem Sterling's double inspired Chelsea to secure all three points at the Bridge.
And the West London outfit will be feel even more confident knowing that their opponents Southampton go into this match off the back of a narrow loss to Manchester United.
Not to mention the drubbing Thomas Tuchel's men gave to the Saints earlier on this year.
