Damon Heta walks on in bucket hat with lawnmower to leave darts refs in stitches

Darts star Damon Heta took his walk-on game to the next level as he emerged wearing a bucket hat and pushing a miniature lawnmower at the Belgian Open.

The Aussie 16th seed has become quite the entertainer in recent months, donning a variety of outfits such as a skiing getup in Austria two weeks ago. There appeared to be no theme to his latest wacky entrance on the European Tour this afternoon (May 6).

He pretended to mow the stage, including precisely cutting around the oche, to leave the referees chuckling away. The icing on the cake was Heta's opponent, Dutchman Damian Mol, getting involved with him.

The moment was lapped up by fans online, with one tweeting: "This is amazing." A second commented: "Honestly, what are we doing with our lives? This is real art."

A third wrote: "Totally normal sport!" While Heta, who won 6-3, later reacted himself on social media, joking: "If the darts don’t work out…"

One of his followers requested "cheerleader pom poms next", but what he'll actually do when he faces Jonny Clayton tomorrow is anyone's guess.

Heta, who moved to the UK in 2019 to pursue a full-time darts career, this week revealed he's hoping to "go home as quick as I can" – which he envisages being in 10 year's time.

Before then, he wants to win "at least one major" to add to his World Cup triumph alongside Simon Whitlock last year.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Love The Darts, he said: "I think that would be massive and not out of the realms I don't think. That would be a big one.

"I've already got a Euro tour, like the World Cup – that's a massive tick, that's something that I didn't think of so early but I did it anyway. At least one major, that would really top it off."
