Two-time world darts champion Peter Wright reveals he lives on a budget of just £212 per week, transferred to him by his hairdresser-manager wife… despite earning a million in winnings this year!

Peter Wright has revealed that despite banking millions during his successful darts career he has been given a strict weekly budget by his wife and manager Joanne.

Wright has reportedly banked over £3million in prize money during his career and will be seeking a third PDC World Championship title in 2024.

Snakebite triumphed at Alexandra Palace in both 2020 and 2022.

The 53-year-old told The Sun that despite his success he has been prevented from splashing out by his wife Joanne.

‘Me? Lavish purchases? No, I don’t get to,’ Wright said.

‘I was at a preview night when asked the question. Michael van Gerwen’s bought a Rolls Royce or something like that and Michael Smith had bought something else and Gezzy had bought this and that.

‘I get my £212 per week and just like playing my darts and trying to win trophies.

‘While Jo is the richest manager in darts.’

Wright, who has been known for his flamboyant outfits and hairstyles throughout his darts career, previously revealed Joanne is managing his finances to prepare for his retirement.

As well as being Wright’s manager, hairdresser Joanne has been responsible for the extravagant Mohican hairstyles.

Wright had previously revealed it takes up to two hours to prepare his hair ahead of matches.

His preparations for last year’s World Championships had been impacted after Joanne was rushed to hospital in November.

Joanne spent three weeks in hospital with Wright admitting he had feared she was going to die, but said everything was ‘going fine’ at the moment.

Wright made a third round exit as last year’s World Championships and will return to Ally Pally as the fourth seed.

He will head into the tournament having won a million in prize money this year after triumphing at the the European Darts Championships in October, as well as the claiming the Nordic Masters title.

Wright awaits the winner of the match between Wales’ Jim Williams and Guyana’s Norman Madhoo in the second round.

Should he clinch a third world title Wright would scoop £500,000 in prize money.
