EFL club's fans fume at 'worst kit ever' with salmon and burgundy shirt and 'cartoon badge' | The Sun

PORTSMOUTH fans have been left reeling with the 'worst kit ever' ahead of the new season.

The shirt, which celebrates the 125th anniversary, is a salmon shade – the first colour Pompey sported in back in 1898.

The distinctive colour was extensively researched by the Pompey History Society to ensure itsaccuracy.

The £55 shirt is Portsmouth's third kit, and is made of 100 per cent recycled polyester as part of Nike’s 'Move to Zero' initiative.

Club midfielder Marlon Pack stated: “I’m certain it will be popular with our supporters, who are always proud to embrace Pompey's rich history and tradition."

However many Portsmouth fans don't agree, and took to social media to air their grievances.

One unhappy fan tweeted: "This is the worst kit ever, what a way to honour the anniversary".

While a second noted: "Not a fan of this one, I think the sleeves should have been pink and I don't like the badge it makes it look fake!".

A third fan blasted: "What the hell is that? The original kit doesn't have burgundy sleeves".

A fourth declared: "It's disappointing which sums up this football clubat the moment".

The loathed item costs a whopping £55 for an adult, while kits prices range between £39 and £47 for youngsters.

The Pompey faithful are not alone in hating this season's poor new kit designs.

Manchester United fans were extremely critical of the away shirt, with this season's green, red and white away strip described as "atrocious" on social media.

And Arsenal supporters have blasted their club's new away kit design.

The new kit celebrates the club's Islington roots and comes in a striking fluorescent yellow design, with wavy black lines – which represents a map of the London borough.

Elsewhere, Portsmouth begin their League One campaign at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday 5.
