Ex-Chelsea striker Diego Costa has work permit REJECTED with free transfer to Wolves on brink of collapsing | The Sun

DIEGO COSTA'S free transfer to Wolves is now in doubt due to issues over his work permit.

Earlier this week, SunSport exclusively revealed that Bruno Lage and his staff feared that the striker's application would be rebuffed.

And they had a right to be concerned as the Home Office has officially REJECTED the application.

According to The Athletic, his initial request was denied because he did not score enough points, putting a potential transfer on the brink of collapse.

Costa is due to fly to the UK tonight in preparation for a medical which is due to take place on Wednesday.

An appeal hearing is expected to take place at the same time to determine whether or not he can complete the move.

Wolves are in desperate need of a new striker with £15million summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic set for a long spell on the sidelines.

The Austria international, who joined the club on deadline day, suffered an ACL injury during his debut against Southampton last weekend.

As a result, Lage launched a desperate attempt to sign Costa in a free transfer.

The ex-Chelsea star has been a free agent since Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro terminated his contract in January.
