FORMER Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says it will be a “miracle” if he can go to the toilet by himself as he discussed his cancer fight.
The legendary Dutch coach, 72, announced ahead of last year’s World Cup in Qatar that he was battling prostate cancer.
He still took charge of his country for the tournament, but he stepped down after their quarter-final penalty shootout defeat to eventual winners Argentina to begin his health battle.
Van Gaal has now appeared on a TV interview to reveal that he is waiting to discover whether his recent operation has been successful.
He also explained that 25 radiation treatments have been carried out to treat the aggressive form of prostate cancer, and he hopes that another medical procedure will provide him with good news.
However, he also revealed the physical toll the disease and the treatments that he has been receiving is having on him.

And that means that it will be a “miracle” if he is able to go to the toilet again without help.
Van Gaal, who is returning to hospital on September 19, said: “How am I doing? Well, I had surgery two or three weeks ago.
“They have tried to put everything in order, details of which I won't tire you with further, but now we have to wait and see.
“On September 19, I have to go back again and then everything will be decided – and then a miracle could take place that I am able to go the toilet by myself again.”

Van Gaal, who recently hit the headlines for claiming that the World Cup was rigged for Lionel Messi to win it, had initially kept his diagnosis hidden from players in the lead up to the tournament.
The vastly-experienced boss was last in club management with Manchester United.
He was in charge of the Red Devils for two years, and he led them to FA Cup success in his final game in the dug-out back in 2014 with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley.
