CHARLIE MULGREW had plenty of moments to remember as he played an integral role in helping Dundee United return to European football last season.
But he's began this campaign with a moment he will VERY much want to forget.
The 36-year old former Scotland star has been a standout since making his Tannadice return last summer after a five-year spell in English football.
The Terrors were back at the home ground on Saturday, taking on English Championship opposition in the form of Alex Neil's Sunderland.
In the end, it was a 2-0 defeat for United but that was only part of the story.
The Black Cats took the lead through a Trai Hume header before Mulgrew's incredible own goal put the game beyond doubt on 64 minutes.
It looked like there was little danger as the ball was passed to Mulgrew who was barely 10 yards away from the half way line.
Ross Stewart was chasing down the former Scotland defender, who still had a bit of time to think.
However, the former Celtic and Aberdeen man didn't look up – and it proved to be a MAJOR error!
Had he taken a glance back towards goal, he would have noticed 'keeper Carljohan Eriksson was MILES out of his goal, occupying the sweeper position outside of the box.

Mulgrew, under increasing pressure from Stewart, decided to simply belt the ball back towards goal – you can probably guess where it ended up.
His powerful back pass was simply nowhere near Eriksson, who watched the ball fly past him heading towards goal
The Finnish stopper frantically sprinted back as the ball took a couple of heavy bounces before ending up in the back of the net.

Many United fans were split on who ultimately was to blame.
Some felt that Eriksson's position led to the blunder, while others weren't too pleased with Mulgrew's lack of awareness.
United were without their two star summer signings, Dylan Levitt and Steven Fletcher, for the game.
