Fans divided over footage of Newcastle keeper Loris Karius dropping clangers in warm-up for Carabao Cup final | The Sun

NEWCASTLE UNITED supporters were left torn after footage of Loris Karius warming up at Wembley emerged.

The former Liverpool keeper, who joined on a free from the Reds last summer, was handed a Toon debut against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final this afternoon.

That was after Nick Pope’s red card against Liverpool handed him the shock opportunity.

He is Newcastle’s No3 keeper but No2 Martin Dubravka misses the final as he is Cup tied, having played on loan at Man Utd this season.

Karius, 29, suffered a nightmare in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid and has not played a competitive game for two years.

One eager fan at Wembley filmed him warming up before the clash and shared the footage online of him spilling several tame shots fired at him.

And the comments soon starting flooding in, with one writing: “My guy looked rusty when he was playing week in week out… this is just a joke.”

Another shared footage from a famous scene from Breaking Bad of Walter White smashing his phone furiously and captioned it with: “Just seen the Karius warmup vid.”

A fellow fan said: “Disasterclass loading!”

However, not everyone was downtrodden, with one replying: “Imagine if he is doing that on purpose to make United believe they are going to win cause of his mistake.”
