As if the Philadelphia Flyers’ deranged, orange, hellbeast of a mascot couldn’t get any more terrifying – he got his hands on an alligator.

But this is no ordinary alligator: this is an emotional support alligator, one of the finest creatures to enter the City of Brotherly Love.

Just before a game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Flyers mascot Gritty was seen holding ‘Wally’, an emotional support alligator, during the game.

Gritty posed for pictures before the game, dressed up as the late ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin for Halloween.

While this may be Wally’s first time inside one of Philadelphia’s fine sports venue’s, this isn’t his first attempt.

Wally is an ’emotional support gator’ who has previously been turned away by the Phillies

Wally’s owner, Joie Henney of Hershey, Pennsylvania, attempted to bring him to a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game at Citizens Bank Park back in September.

However, they were turned away as the ballpark’s policy is to only allow service animals, not emotional support animals.

Henney told CBS News that Wally makes him ‘feel loved’, adding, ‘I’ll get lonely and stuff like that and he seems to sense that stuff and he’ll come up and he’ll give me a hug.’

Maybe Wally was able to provide some emotional support to Henney on what was an unfortunate ride home from the Wells Fargo Center – after the Flyers fell to the Hurricanes 3-2.
