Frankie Dettori to rent out huge mansion with swimming pool and 'sulking room good for hangovers' for £15,000 a month | The Sun

FRANKIE DETTORI is planning to rent out his enormous seven-bedroom mansion for £15,000 a month.

The legendary jockey, 52, is going to lease out the home he transformed completely as he prepares for a 'jet-setting' retirement, according to The Times.

The stunning property, in Six Mile Bottom near racing HQ Newmarket, features a beautiful outdoor pool and even a 'sulking room'.

Dettori, who waved goodbye to Royal Ascot after 33 years of winners last weekend, says he goes there to decompress with a glass of wine after the pressures of the sport take their toll.

Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart are just some of the mates Dettori has had round to share a glass of wine with in the 'musky man cave'.

The jockey swears the dark red walls are 'good for the hangover'.

The incredible 11,000sq ft mansion comes with almost two acres of Mediterranean-style gardens – a homage to Dettori's Sardinian roots – and more than three acres of paddocks.

It also has plenty of garage space for his collection of 'frightening' Ferraris.

Dettori and wife Catherine, 49, bought the original property for £570,000 in 2003.

The 'bloody expensive' renovation they have carried out took about 15 years all in and was part-funded by the £2.15million sale of their old 15-acre, six-bedroom house in 2015.

But the couple have decided to rent rather than sell as they hope to return when they become grandparents.

Until then Dettori, who broke Royal protocol by planting a kiss on the cheek of Queen Camilla last week, will continue on his global farewell tour.

Now it looks like his final ever ride will be in the Melbourne Cup in Australia on November 7.

Once he hangs up his saddle and whip for good a career in TV and the after-dinner speaking circuit awaits.

Until then, though, there might be a few more evenings spent in the sulking room, although hopefully not many.

Dettori said: "If I lose I have a bad day, I go to sulk.

"As I got older I got pushed out of the kitchen. I got pushed out of the sitting room because, back in the day, my wife wanted to watch Strictly [Come Dancing], my daughter wanted to watch Love Island.

"I needed a room with my own TV. I watch racing, I am a big football fan, I watch Arsenal, I relax here with my friends."
