Game of Thrones star and 2018 World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson has revealed his graphic surgery pics after tearing his pectoral muscle when he benched 252kgs.
The 34-year-old actor and professional strongman, who holds the world deadlift record of 501kgs, was making a comeback to strongman competitions after a two-year hiatus to pursue boxing.
Unfortunately, it all went awry when Bjornsson attempted to beat his all-time PB of 252.5 and ended up screaming in pain as he tore his pectoral from the bone.
Bjornsson has been providing his fans with updates on his recovery via social media.
On Wednesday he posted to Instagram: ‘I’m 4 weeks post surgery. Sadly I got an infection 5 days ago resulting in an abscess and had to have a drainage tube inserted.

Bjornsson then shared various images of himself related to the surgery, including himself being operated upon and the enormous drainage tube he had removed from his body.
Another shot shows the large scar he now has on his shoulder.
In a previous post to Instagram, the strongman took time to thank all the fans who have wished him well.
‘Thank you all for the support, kind messages and love during these challenging times ahead,’ he wrote.
‘It really means the world to me. This is just a challenge and a small setback. I’ll come back stronger.
‘Peace and love, Hafthor.’
Bjornsson, who stands 6’9, fought in boxing against Brit Eddie Hall in March 2022 after three warm-up exhibition contests.
