Gary Neville spots Pep Guardiola’s ‘monstrous dig’ at Man Utd with two-line statement about Man City success | The Sun

GARY NEVILLE is convinced that Pep Guardiola took aim at Manchester United with a "monstrous dig" after Sunday's derby.

The Red Devils fell to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to bitter rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford, leaving them eighth in the Premier League table.

City striker Erling Haaland broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 26th minute after Rodri was fouled by Rasmus Hojlund.

The Norway international then scored his second with a header from close range before assisting Phil Foden in the 80th minute.

Guardiola heaped praise on his players after the match, but he also appeared to take aim at United.

The Spaniard said: "We are in the same direction, me, the CEO, the sporting directors, the chairman. That is why I think the club is so stable."

Neville was quick to react to Guardiola's comments on social media.

He tweeted: "That quote from Pep Guardiola is a monstrous dig into the running of United!"

Since the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager took over at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Man City have won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and the Champions League.

Meanwhile, United have just won the Europa League and the Carabao Cup.

The Glazer family – United's owners who have been heavily criticised by Neville -have been in talks over a potential takeover since November 2022.

However, they are yet to sell up.

The Glazers initially looked to sell the entire club, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani known to be interested in a full takeover.

But the Qatari withdrew from the race earlier this month after criticising the "outlandish" asking price.

Now, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to buy a 25 per cent stake in Man Utd.

Should the deal go through, the Glazers will still hold the majority share of the club.
