GERMANY have sacked manager Hansi Flick after a disastrous run.
The 2014 World Cup winners were hammered 4-1 by Japan last night in a friendly.
That was their fourth defeat in their last five matches and their heaviest defeat since being thrashed 6-0 by Spain in the Nations league back in 2020.
Flick only replaced Joachim Low in August 2021, but after winning just 12 of his 25 games in charge, he has now been axed.
His two assistants, Marcus Sorg and Danny Rohl, have also been sacked with immediate effect.
DFB President Bernd Neuedorf confirmed: “The committees agreed that the men’s senior national team needs new impetus after the recent disappointing results.

“With a view to the European Championships in our own country, we need a spirit of optimism and confidence.
“For me personally, it is one of the most difficult decisions of my time in office so far because I appreciate Hansi Flick and his assistant coaches as football experts and people.
“But sporting success is the top priority for the DFB. So the decision was unavoidable.”
Rudi Voller, Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner will look after the team on a one-off basis on Tuesday against France.

Voller had described last night’s embarrassing defeat as a “disgrace” but insisted that the German squad “can’t s***” their pants over the prospect of facing the French.
He said: “We're all still in shock. Losing 4-1 is a disgrace.
“We all should take a good look at ourselves and then see what happens next. We would all do well to sleep on it tonight.
“I just spoke to Hansi – he's deeply affected. We'll talk tomorrow about why that happened. That was an embarrassment.”
He added: “We can't s*** our pants now. We're Germany.
“Nobody should be afraid on Tuesday. The boys can do it, they all play for top clubs.”
The dismal run of results for the former Bayern Munich boss, who led the Bavarians to the Bundesliga title twice, also included a disastrous World Cup exit last winter.
Germany failed to get out of the group stage after losing their final game against Japan.
They have recorded just three wins from their last 12 fixtures – beating Oman, Costa Rica and Peru.
Meanwhile, despite his current battle with prostate cancer, Dutchman Louis van Gaal is one of the early names being linked with the job, especially after he told BILD that he is not retired.

He said: “Normally I won't coach at a club anymore, but a promising country still has a chance to convince me.”
Meanwhile, a number of reports have already claimed that the DFB have a “dream” to make Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp their next boss.
