Grand National supercomputer predicts MASSIVE upset with 80-1 horse tipped to win in shock result | The Sun

A SUPERCOMPUTER has predicted a shock in the Grand National – with an 80-1 outsider tipped to romp home for his billionaire owner.

Boffins at GrandNational.org.uk have crunched the numbers and discovered that Enjoy d'Allen will steal the world's most famous race.

Owned by the legendary JP McManus, it looks like he will make it two Nationals in a row after claiming the Irish equivalent on Monday.

Data from each of the previous 174 Grand National winners was analysed to determine the most likely winner.

And two key factors are for the horse to be nine and to have an owner named John.

While not providing an exact match for the typical starting price of a Grand National champ at a typical 20-1, current odds show that he does provide incredible value at 80-1.

So if you were to stick a fiver on you'd be celebrating a cool £400 profit.

Be warned before backing him though, the horse does not currently have a jockey and it's not certain he will be run.

For example, a horse with a weight of 10st7lb is thought to have a good chance in the £1million contest.

Diol Ker and Minella Trump, while not exactly matching, fit the profile.

When it comes to trainers, 11 previous winners have been called Tom.

George (eight), Fred and James (both seven) trail closely behind, but just one of this year’s runners is trained by a Thomas – 40-1 priced Velvet Elvis.

Don't let that price put you off because one of Gordon Elliott's top jockeys reckons the horse has a good chance of winning.

A spokesperson for GrandNational.org.uk said: "Our research shows that historically, nine-year old horses, with an owner named John, race best in the Grand National, making Enjoy d'Allen a strong pick, despite being priced at 80-1.

"The historical traits of previous horses can be worth considering when having a flutter on the Grand National.

"This typically goes against the bookmaker’s favourites, so will Enjoy d'Allen – and our supercomputer – beat the bookies? We’ll find out very soon!"

The Grand National will be run at 5.15pm on Saturday, make sure you check out Templegate's bluffer's guide to the big one.
