'He's a good guy' – Haaland reveals classy Solskjaer message after snubbing Man Utd for arch-rivals City | The Sun

ERLING HAALAND has revealed the message he received from ex-Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after signing for rivals City.

The Norwegian, 21, was finally unveiled by Manchester City after they completed a £51million move from Dortmund.

But he did reveal that Solskjaer – his boss when he started as a 16-year-old at Molde – wished him well despite being on “the wrong side of Manchester” .

Haaland told the Manchester Evening News: “When I signed with City he congratulated me and wrote to me 'Good luck on going to the wrong side of Manchester'.

“We talk sometimes. As you know, he had a huge impact on my career when I was at Molde. He's a good guy.”

Haaland burst on to the scene under the United legend and scored 20 goals in 50 games to earn a move to RB Salzburg.

His red-hot form continued at the Austrian club, leading to Dortmund to swoop a year later in 2020.

Haaland then fired 85 goals in 88 appearances for the Bundesliga club before his eventual transfer to City this summer.

Solskjaer has remained in contact with the youngster throughout his climb to superstardom and even failed with a move to bring him to United during his time in charge prior to his switch to Dortmund.

Haaland is adamant that he has no regrets so far in his career – including not joining the Old Trafford giants.

And he reckons he has made 'perfect choices'.

Haaland added: “Three years ago City didn't want me because they had [Sergio] Aguero up front so then there was no choice about coming to Man City.

“Basically, my feeling was I felt more going to the other place than coming here to England.

“I could have come here a lot of times in my career but I felt the other place and I think it was a really good choice.

“I have made perfect choices ever since I went to Molde, then Salzburg and Dortmund.

“I'm not complaining about that.”
