How Chelsea could line up against Fulham under Graham Potter with new manager making immediate changes to team | The Sun

CHELSEA could be set to embark on the start of a new era this weekend with Graham Potter as their incoming manager.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday morning following the Blues 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Owner Todd Boehly is moving quickly to try and secure Brighton boss Potter, with the English coach heading to London for talks surrounding the vacancy.

He is the bookies' frontrunner to succeed Tuchel ahead of Mauricio Pochettino.

And if Potter is appointed then his first task will be to prepare Chelsea for a West London derby against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.

The Cottagers currently sit just two points below their local rivals following a positive start to the campaign.

A few changes are likely to be made from the win over West Ham.

They would include moving Marc Cucurella into the back three alongside Wesley Fofana and Thiago Silva – a role he showed he could perform under Potter at Brighton.

That would then offer up the opportunity for Ben Chilwell to return at left wingback – six days after coming off the bench to net Chelsea's equaliser against West Ham.

Mason Mount is expected to slot into a midfield three ahead of the injured Ruben Loftus-Cheek – who started the victory over the Hammers.

And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to receive his first Prem start since returning to England.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal forward hit the back of the net on his Chelsea debut against Dinamo Zagreb, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Christian Pulisic is the likely casualty who will make way for Aubameyang.

Alternatively, another way Potter could choose to line up is with the same back three that played in the loss to Zagreb – with Kalidou Koulibaly making up the trio alongside Silva and Fofana.

Cucurella would then move back out to the left, while Jorginho is also an option for the midfield.

And up front, rather than Mount slotting in behind Sterling and Aubameyang to make up a 3-4-2-1, the England international could move to the right.

Sterling would then take up the left side of an attacking front three, with Aubameyang leading the line.
