How Chelsea could line up vs Dinamo Zagreb in Champions League with Aubameyang in line for debut but no Thiago Silva | The Sun

CHELSEA get their Champions League campaign underway away at Dinamo Zagreb tomorrow.

And it could see a debut for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his deadline-day move from Barcelona.

However, the Gabon ace may need to wait for his chance as he is unlikely to be ready to start in Croatia.

Aubameyang damaged his jaw when burglars raided his home in Barcelona last week and sat in the stands at the weekend.

Instead, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount look likely to support Kai Havertz in the Chelsea attack.

Mount and Havertz both came off the bench in the victory over West Ham on Saturday, with the German scoring the late winner.

However, it was Ben Chilwell who was the key man in the Stamford Bridge comeback with a goal and an assist after coming on.

So the ex-Leicester defender may well be preferred at left-wing back over Marc Cucurella.

Reece James will surely keep his place on the other side, fresh from signing his new contract, with plenty of options in midfield.

N'Golo Kante has not travelled due to his hamstring injury so it could be a midfield two of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho.

Thomas Tuchel could, however, easily go for a three-man midfield with Conor Gallagher, Mateo Kovacic, Carney Chukwuemeka and even loanee Denis Zakaria all possible options.

The Juventus star has got his work permit sorted so is clear to play and therefore travelled alongside Aubameyang on the flight to Zagreb.

In defence Thiago Silva is unavailable so, should it be a back three, it will likely be Trevoh Chalobah, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.

Cesar Azpilicueta may be involved on the right side of defence while Edouard Mendy may be fearing for his place in goal after a series of recent blunders – although he somehow got away with the latest fluff against the Hammers.

And should Aubameyang make a surprise start, he would likely lead the line as the new No9.

Christian Pulisic got the nod on Saturday in attack and may well be the most likely to break into the front three again on Tuesday ahead of Hakim Ziyech and Armando Broja to support Auba.

Dinamo Zagreb have made a flying start to the Croatian top flight with seven wins and draw from their first eight games – opening up an eight-point gap at the top of the table.
