I played one minute for Man Utd on Marcus Rashford's Premier League debut but now I'm plying my trade in Slovakia | The Sun

A FORMER Manchester United star who played for a minute in Marcus Rashford's Premier League debut now shoots his shot in Slovakia.

James Weir was once in the ranks at Old Trafford but has seen his career take an unexpected turn to Eastern Europe.

The 28-year-old midfielder spent eight years at United, graduating from the academy in 2014.

Born in Preston, he began his career as a youth player with Preston North End and then joined the Red Devils academy in 2008.

He only made one appearance for Man Utd's first team and it happened to be the same game superstar Marcus Rashford debuted in.

Weir made his professional debut on February 28th 2016 in a 3–2 Premier League victory at home to Arsenal.

The forgotten star came on as an injury-time sub for Ander Herrera.

While Weir only secured just one minute of playing time, fellow team-mate Rashford started, scored and made two assists.

The England ace has gone on to score 124 goals in 369 appearances for United.

In contrast, Weir ended up at Hull in 2016 after failing to breakthrough into Man Utd's first team.

He then spent the second half of the 2016–17 term on loan to Wigan Athletic.

After returning, his appearances for Hull were sporadic, and he left for Bolton Wanderers in 2019.

Then less than six months with the Trotters, he was released and soon made a move out of the UK to Slovak club FK Pohronie.

He played there for 18 months before moving south to Hungary to play for MTK Budapest, before being released a year later.

Weir then returned to Slovakia this summer and signed for Nike Liga giants Zlate Moravce.
