Jorginho ‘could QUIT Arsenal just 7 MONTHS after Chelsea transfer as European giants eye bid for unsettled star’ | The Sun

JORGINHO could be on the verge of leaving Arsenal just SEVEN MONTHS after joining the club.

Mikel Arteta forked out £12million to Chelsea for the Italian international midfielder back in January.

But the 31-year-old has struggled to impress since in his 16 outings and has only registered one assist without any goals.

And the £105m arrival of Declan Rice from West Ham has only added further competition in the middle of the park at the Gunners.

Jorginho was not in action yesterday as Arsenal beat Manchester City 4-1 on penalties to lift the Community Shield at Wembley.

Now Turkish outlet TRTSPOR have claimed that the star wants to leave the Emirates.

They state that Jorginho has already told Arsenal of his desire to depart before the summer transfer window closes.

And they add that Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who face Maribor in a Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday, want to sign the experienced ace and have enquired about his availability.

However, this claim may come as a shock to boss Arteta, who recently praised the veteran’s “phenomenal character”.

The Spaniard said: “I think it’s something that has to be shared.

“Jorginho is a phenomenal character, he’s got so much experience.

“Everybody respects and loves him in there and he’s a particular character as well and he’s been really, really, really good for us.

“He needs to maintain what he’s doing but also we have to promote leadership from other areas and there are very young players there as well and now they’ve been with us for a while and they have to start to look forward and take initiative and go another step further.”
