Juventus ‘join Tottenham in race for Man Utd flop Memphis Depay after striker has No9 shirt stripped by Barcelona’ | The Sun

JUVENTUS have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Memphis Depay, according to reports.

Barcelona are desperate offload the Dutch striker this summer having stripped him of his No9 shirt so they could hand it to new arrival Robert Lewandowski.

And now journalist Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Italian giants Juventus are considering Depay as they look to sign a new forward.

The 28-year-old, who had a disappointing spell at Manchester United between 2015 and 2017, could return to the Premier League with Spurs continuously linked with him.

However, Romano suggest there has been no official talks between the player and the North London club.

This leaves the door open for Juve to swoop but they are also weighing up moves for Chelsea's Timo Werner and Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata.

The Blues are looking to sell Werner with Newcastle reportedly keen. Meanwhile Morata has spent the last two seasons on loan in Turin scoring 32 goals in 92 appearances for the club.

As for Depay, he has spent just one season at Barca playing 38 times netting 13 goals.

But when he arrived at the Nou Camp from Lyon last summer he only agreed a two-year contract that is due to expire at the end of the approaching season.

With Barcelona in some financial trouble they are looking to cash-in while they can rather than lose him on a free.

Manager Xavi has still been able re-build the squad and he deems Depay as surplus to requirements.

The signings of Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer, as well as Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, have bolstered their attack meaning Depay is no longer needed.

Speculation has suggested Spurs could offer Sergio Reguilon as part of the deal for the versatile attacker but Sevilla are also interested.
