Kai Havertz's first Arsenal interview LEAKED as he hails club's 'family mentality' after £65m transfer from Chelsea | The Sun

A CLIP of Kai Havertz’s first interview as an Arsenal player has been LEAKED – despite his transfer not yet being officially announced.

The 24-year-old German forward is closing in on a £65million move to the Gunners from Chelsea.

We revealed that the first part of his medical has been completed before a photo of Havertz smiling while wearing Arsenal's 2023/24 home kit started doing the rounds on social media.

Despite still waiting for official confirmation from either club, the move is all but done.

And now footage of Havertz decked out in the red of Arsenal has emerged on Twitter as he revealed his joy at joining Mikel Arteta’s young squad in North London.

He said: “It's super exciting for me personally. I'm so glad to join this amazing club.

“This club has such a big history and I hope we can achieve lots of things. I'm looking forward to meeting the players and staff, it's going to be exciting.”

He continued: “You can see the family mentality the team has on the pitch and I guess they have it off the pitch as well.

“The team mentality in the squad is very, very high and you can feel that. That was one of the reasons why it was so hard to play against Arsenal.

“And, obviously, there are so many talented players and, you know, there’s big room to achieve big things as well.”

Havertz had a tough season at Stamford Bridge last season but was still the Blues' top goalscorer with nine goals in all competitions.

The former Leverkusen ace was a fan favourite in West London due to his Champions League clinching striker against Manchester City in 2021.

And he cannot wait to play in it again this season after the Gunners’ second-place Premier League finish last term sealed a return to Europe’s top club tournament.

Havertz said: “I think the Champions League is a special tournament and I think every football player just loves to play there.

“I was fortunate to win the trophy and you know, for me, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had.

“So to play there again next season with Arsenal is very exciting for me.”

The video also revealed that Havertz will continue to wear his favourite number at the Emirates.

Discussing why he likes the No.29 shirt, he added: “I’ve had it now for many years. I chose it when I became professional in Germany. Since then it has always given me luck.

“You know, when I became professional I took it because it has some history with my brother. We used to take it always when we played some video games together.

“So since then I just took it, and for me, I think it’s the perfect number and I love to wear it in a red shirt again.”
