Khabib Nurmagomedov has labeled gender dysphoria, and surrounding discussions, as ‘crazy.’

Like many fellow traditionalists, the Russian believes there are only two genders – naturally; male and female – as he told Patrick Bet-David in a one-on-one interview at the 2023 PHP Gala.

Nurmagomedov was asked by Bet-David how many genders there are in Russia compared to the ‘few hundred’ in the States.

Initially, the former UFC lightweight champ looked perplexed before unsurprisingly revealing; ‘I see only woman and man,’ he said as Bet-David burst into laughter.

‘There is no between,’ he said to rousing applause in the crowd below. ‘This is crazy.’

Khabib Nurmagomedov shared his opinion regarding the proliferation of gender dysphoria

Nurmagomedov sat down with entrepreneur and conservative podcaster Patrick Bet-David

Nurmagomedov then used an anecdote of a recent trip to California wherein he was in a coffee shop and went to use the restroom, only to find there was only all-gender options.

‘Two bathrooms – all gender, all gender. “What is this? Where do I have to go?” It’s the first time I’ve seen this. I stared for like, five seconds. “Where is woman? Where is man?”

‘I knocked on the door; “is anybody inside?” I don’t know brother. I grew up in a very traditional place, with a very traditional family.

‘I am very happy with this. I am from big mountains and we only have two genders,’ he added.

The comments come as no surprise to those familiar with the Dagestani native.  Nurmagomedov is a devout Sunni Muslim and has long held views considered conservative to the western world.

In 2018, when asked for advice relating to women interested in the fight game; he said ‘For females, I have very good advice, be fighters at home.’ After a brief pause he added: ‘And one more advice, all the time, finish your husband.’

Three years later he questioned the relevance of ring girls – used perpetually by the UFC and other combat promotions.

‘What is their function?,’ Nurmagomedov asked. ‘I think they are the most useless people in martial arts. What function? How? What are they doing? Tell me please.’

The former UFC lightweight champion is a traditionalist and has previously ripped ring girls

The 34-year-old then discussed some of the vast cultural differences between Russia and the U.S., suggesting his compatriots – particularly those from Dagestan – don’t need much to be happy before revealing money could never motivate a return to the UFC.

‘It doesn’t matter, even if you give me $100million. It doesn’t matter to me, you know why? Because I’m from Dagestan. We have tradition.

‘We are completely different people. I have been living in the U.S. since 2012, I know U.S. people’s mentality. I know Russian people’s mentality. It’s like, completely different people.

‘I really like U.S. people, they are all such nice people. This is the only place where I go outside by myself… this is the only country I can wear sit at a Starbucks, drink coffee and enjoy my life.’

Despite the possibility in his homeland, Nurmagomedov has no interest in becoming a politician and prefers to ‘be a regular human.’
