Leeds looking to pull off last-minute transfer for Marseille forward Bamba Dieng after Rodrigo injury | The Sun

LEEDS are trying to land a late deal for Marseille forward Bamba Dieng.

The Senegal international, 22, has been tracked by the Whites during the summer and they are hopeful of securing his signature by the end of the day.

One of the hottest European prospects, Dieng scored seven Ligue 1 goals last season.

Jesse Marsch has been desperate to add a new striker all window, especially so after top scorer Rodrigo dislocated his shoulder against Everton on Tuesday.

Dieng mainly plays as a centre-forward but can also operate off both the left and right.

The move for Dieng comes after Leeds failed with approaches for PSV’s Cody Gakpo and Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan.

American Marsch was coy when asked if Rodrigo's unfortunate injury could force him to make a last-ditch signing.

He said: "Not so much. But obviously that's been a goal of ours from from the start of the summer.

"Right. So, again, we've been active and we're trying everything we can and we'll see how it plays out here over the next 24 hours or so."

Marsch, however, won't be disappointed with his squad if he fails to secure the services of Dieng or another forward before tonight's deadline.

He said: "I like our team. You know, obviously, I've said this a few times already in a press conference: good players make good coaches.

"The more good players that you can find then you can really enjoy the team but I think we've done a really good job already.
