Liverpool set to beat Man Utd and Arsenal to Mac Allister transfer and make contact with Real Madrid over shock target | The Sun

LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to enter the transfer chase to sign Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and have contacted Real Madrid regarding another target they want.

The Reds, who have endured a difficult campaign, are keen to add to their midfield options this summer.

Borussia Dortmund's Bellingham, 19, was their ideal option but as boss Jurgen Klopp brilliantly argued last month, a move has proven to be too expensive.

We then revealed how the Reds were keen on Argentinean Mac Allister, 24, instead along with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Argentina World Cup winner looks set to leave Brighton at the end of the season.

Now the Daily Mirror has claimed that “talks are a long way down the line” between Liverpool, Brighton and the player’s representatives over a summer switch.

Klopp’s team are ready to rebuild their engine room with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all set to depart.

The Reds are also favourites to land England ace Mason Mount from Chelsea and now appear to be leading the chase for Mac Allister.

Mac Allister joined Seagulls from South American side Argentinos Juniors for £7million in 2019 on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

That was extended by a further 12 months in October, meaning he is under contract until June 2025.

Brighton also have the option of adding an additional year, meaning that they remain in a strong bargaining position if they sell.

Mac Allister also played an integral part in Argentina's World Cup triumph, helping his country to lift the trophy for the first time since 1986.

Following a 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia in their tournament opener, Mac Allister was brought into the side as Argentina won six games in a row on their way to glory in Qatar.

However, this fresh update also speculates at who else could be joining him at Anfield.

It states that Liverpool “have also made an enquiry” about Aurelien Tchoumeni, who they failed to try and sign last summer.

However, Real Madrid “don't want to sell” but that could still see the Merseyside outfit make another attempt to land the former Monaco man.

Despite making a late charge for the top four, Klopp said ahead of tonight’s trip to Leicester: “We play a really bad season, I think everyone in this room agrees, and now we have 62 points. It is strange.

“There is still quality in the boys. I am really happy we could show up a little bit. Where it will end up it's really not about that.

“I know everyone wants to go to Champions League, I understand that 100 per cent as that's what I want, it is just not really likely, that is the situation we created.

“But to show up and show again we are able to do special things I am really happy about. Winning six games in a row is special and if it was easy we would have done it much more often, other teams would have done it much more often.

“Adding the seventh is even more difficult but eight and nine really difficult because it is football and other teams prepare well for the games and they have their own targets but this part of the season gave us a clear sign we are still there.

“Not everything is bad about us and around us. We had a bad season but let's see what we can make of it.”
