Luis Diaz offers to pay to replace Liverpool fans' shirts for the new Premier League season in incredible gesture | The Sun

LUIS DIAZ has offered to pay for Liverpool fans to get new shirts after he changed his squad number.

The Colombian international's squad number at Liverpool has been changed from No.23 to the No.7.

Diaz, 26, had worn his last number since his move to the Anfield outfit from Porto in January 2022.

But ahead of the new Premier League campaign, he has now taken the No.7 following James Milner's exit from the club.

And the player has offered to replace any supporter's shirts that have been bought with his old squad number on.

A statement on the Liverpool website confirmed that they would be "personally reimbursed by the attacker".

Diaz wore the no.7 at Porto and often has the squad number while on international duty with Columbia.

By wearing the number, he will now follow in the footsteps of club legends such as Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez.

Since arriving at Liverpool, Diaz had impressed by scoring four goals and bagging three assists in his first 13 games.

However, he missed a large portion of the last campaign after undergoing surgery on a knee injury that kept him out between October and April this year.

Liverpool currently has the no.8 and no.9 squad numbers unoccupied following the exits for Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita.
