Man Utd make transfer decision on Amad Diallo after breakthrough season-long loan with Sunderland | The Sun

AMAD DIALLO is set to be given an opportunity to impress Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in pre-season, according to reports.

The Ivorian has spent the bulk of the last 18 months on loan away from Old Trafford, first with Rangers and then Sunderland.

Diallo, 20, impressed with the latter, and could yet carve out a role at United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Diallo will be involved in pre-season with the Red Devils.

United could have a vacancy on the right wing, with Ten Hag seeking an left-footed right winger to act as Antony's understudy.

Should he convince the Dutchman that he is good enough to play a part, Diallo could be involved with United's first team next season.

The starlet arrived at Old Trafford in a £37million deal from Atalanta in January 2021.

He has made nine United first team appearances to date, scoring once.

Diallo had been poised to join Feyenoord on loan for the 2021-22 season, but an unfortunately-timed injury put paid to the move.

He instead joined Rangers the following January, but struggled with the pace and physicality of the Scottish Premiership.

The wonderkid upped his game at Sunderland, however, scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances as the Black Cats reached the play-offs.

His performances earned him second-place in the Championship Young Player of the Year award – only behind Bristol City ace Alex Scott.

Should Diallo fail to sufficiently impress Ten Hag, another loan, this time to the Premier League, could follow.

While a permanent sale also hasn't been ruled out.
