Man Utd set to make shock Daniel Bachmann transfer move with Watford keeper targeted as back-up for David De Gea | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED are eyeing a shock swoop for Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is looking to make up to five new signings this summer in a bid to get the Red Devils competing for silverware again.

A backup to David De Gea is on Ten Hag's shopping list, with Dean Henderson closing in on a switch to Nottingham Forest.

And United are considering a move for Austrian stopper Bachmann, according to GOAL.

The 27-year-old played 13 times for Watford last season, and largely played second fiddle to Ben Foster between the sticks at Vicarage Road.

It's claimed a deal worth £4million would be enough to seal a swoop for Bachmann.

Bachmann is understood to believe he can establish himself as Ten Hag's cup goalkeeper.

If Henderson does complete a move to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest, De Gea and Tom Heaton would be left as the only first-team keepers at the club.

But Austrian international Bachmann has been identified as a possible target to provide cover for De Gea.

SunSport exclusively revealed United are closing in on making Ajax winger Antony their first signing of the summer.
