    Erik ten Hag worry

Manchester United fans seem terrified that manager Erik ten Hag could leave the as he “deserves better”.

Ten Hag, 53, enjoyed a rollercoaster first season in charge at Old Trafford as he secured the Carabao Cup and a return to the Champions League.

The Dutch tactician is desperate to bolster his squad this summer in a number of positions in order to try and close that gap ahead of their tricky start to the 2023/2024 campaign.

The ex-Aja boss has made Tottenham superstar Harry Kane one of his top targets while he is also looking to make a move for Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund to strengthen his attack.

Midfield is another area Ten Hag wants to strengthen, but what appeared to be a done deal to bring in Mason Mount from Chelsea now appears to have stalled.

He has also been left frustrated by United's lack of transfer activity, which has arisen in part due to the uncertainty surrounding the club's takeover saga.

    On Zi way out

Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal is on the brink of leaving the club permanently.

Iqbal, 20, is rated highly by many but failed to play any first-team football in Erik ten Hag's maiden season at Old Trafford.

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein, the midfielder will be sold to Utrecht on a four-year deal.

However, the once dubbed future prospect will leave for a mere €1million (£86,000).

    Fred release clause

Manchester United supporters have been left fuming at the reported asking price the club have set for Fred.

The midfielder has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer with a move to Fulham being touted.

The Brazil international has one year left to run on his contract at United and this could be one of the last chances the club have to cash in on him.

According to the Telegraph, the 30-year-old won't cost more than £20million, which is £32m less than what the club paid for him in 2018.

    Harry Maguire trial

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire's retrial date has been set for February 7 in Greece, nearly three years after convictions of assault and attempted bribery were quashed.

Maguire, 30, was arrested while on a family holiday in Mykonos in August 2020 and was initially found guilty of assaulting police, resisting arrest and attempted bribery – he was punished with a suspended jail sentence of 21 months and 10 days.

Maguire's brother, Joe, and friend, Christopher Sharman, were also handed suspended sentences of 13 months as the England international swiftly appealed and saw the conviction quashed.

That meant a retrial would automatically be heard at a higher court but it was first postponed due to the pandemic.

It was then due to take place earlier this month, before the centre-back's legal team requested it be pushed back.

If found guilty, Maguire will not be able to receive a more severe punishment than his original sentence.

    Kane still keen

Tottenham superstar Harry Kane “still wants” a move to Manchester United but needs Daniel Levy to lower his £100million release clause.

The chances of Kane joining United depend on Spurs chairman Levy’s stance softening.

The North Londoners' chief is demanding at least £100m for the soon-to-be 30-year-old, who can walk away for nothing next summer, and that is a fee the Red Devils are not entertaining.

The Daily Mail claim Erik ten Hag’s side have ended their pursuit of the star striker for now but Levy could reignite their interest by dropping his asking price to £80m.

The same source adds that “Kane's clear preference is United and he hopes that Levy will relent” over the coming weeks.

Despite having other targets, such as Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag would prefer a proven Premier League centre-forward to bolster his attack.

    Mount bid increased

Manchester United are tipped to increase their bid for Chelsea star Mason Mount to £50millon.

The Blues rejected United's opening £40m bid for Mount as they are asking for a fee close to £70m.

That release clause is understood to have ended Liverpool's interest in the 24-year-old.

The England international looks set to leave Stamford Bridge amid new manager Mauricio Pochettino's squad overhaul.

    Rasmus Hojlund priority

Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund has overtaken Tottenham superstar Harry Kane as Manchester United's top strike target.

But Hojlund could cost twice the £40million that the Serie A giants initially wanted.

And United are unwilling to pay £80m despite the striker's impressive campaign, which saw him register 16 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances last season.

That is while the Red Devils are trying to get the asking price for Chelsea star Mason Mount down to around £50m.
