Knighton explains takeover bid
Michael Knighton claims he's launched is United takeover because the Glazers have "damaged the brand".
He told ITV: "This is not personal against the Glazers, they just always had the wrong model.
“[My consortium?] They are small-time billionaires that I have been speaking to for three to four months now.
"When I was approached by some fan groups, oddly enough, saying 'look, our club is dying on its feet' would you please do something?'
"I made a few phone calls and I've been pulling this consortium together ever since.
"We are not the great Sir Jim Ratcliffe. We do not have those resources. We are not some nation state sovereign fund who has oil revenue of two billion a day.
"The point is: someone had to make a stand. If we can smoke the great Sir Jim out to buy Manchester United my consortium will be punching the air because we've achieved what we want to do.
"We will make the bid with our own consortium but, I'll tell you this, we do not have the resources available to do everything that is needed."

Former Real Madrid star Raphael Varane has begun the season on the bench but is thought likely to return to the starting XI on Monday night.
He replaced £55million summer signing Lisandro Martinez at half-time during the 4-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, it may be Maguire that drops out against the Reds, rather than 5ft 9in Martinez.
Maguire, 29, was left out of United's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal in April by then-interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

"I don't think it's that grim for him at Barcelona compared to what it could be like at Man Utd.
"You may get paid better and you may all of a sudden play, but if things don't go well where do you go from there"
