    Eriksen excited by Champions League

Christian Eriksen has also claimed that the Champions League is the most enjoyable competition to play in ahead of Manchester United's European campaign next season.

I think it’s one of the tournaments you enjoy the most to play in, it’s just a prestige tournament to be in.

You know how difficult it is to get into it when you’re not there and now finally when you’re there, it’s just about being there every year – which of course you try to do in the league but now we have to enjoy being there but also being able to show what we can do in the Champions League.”

    Eriksen wants top home form

Christian Eriksen has admitted that Manchester United's home form will be key to success next season.

I think the whole of last season it was exceptional to play at Old Trafford with all of the wins we got, so it’s definitely something we have to take with us for next season.

The fans are going to help us and we will try to give it back to the fans so they are going to enjoy coming to the games as well.

It will be a nice first game definitely.

    Amrabat the solution at United?

The injury news also means Ten Hag will now step up his search for an extra addition to bolster his options before the transfer window closes.

Sofyan Amrabat was already a priority on the United transfer wishlist.

And now the club are reportedly set to step up their pursuit of the Fiorentina and Morocco star.

Rivals Liverpool were also interested in Amrabat.

However, reports this week claimed the Red Devils were his preferred option.

And United are said to have submitted a £21.5million bid for the 26-year-old, who shone at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, Italian side Fiorentina want around £26m for their in-demand star.

    'I'll be back stronger'

England youth international Mainoo took to Instagram following the devastating news as he vowed to bounce back better.

The academy graduate, who joined United aged nine and has made three competitive first-team appearances, wrote to his 386,000 followers: "I’ll be back stronger and in no time. Thanks for your messages of support."

Team-mates including captain Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, Fred, Antony and Lisandro Martinez flooded the comments with messages of support.

    Kobbie's KO a devastating blow

United star Kobbie Mainoo has been ruled out for the "first part" of the season in a huge blow.

And that looks set to force Erik ten Hag to go back into the transfer market for another midfielder.

Stockport youngster Mainoo, 18, suffered an ankle injury against Real Madrid in pre-season.

The promising midfielder clashed with Rodrygo just three minutes into the friendly and he was later spotted on crutches and in a protective boot.

And it is bad news for the teenager as he has been sidelined just as he was beginning to break into Ten Hag's first team at Old Trafford after impressing in pre-season.

United confirmed Mainoo is "expected to be ruled out for the first part of the 2023-24 season".

A statement added: "He has flown home from Tour to the UK where further assessment of his injury will take place before a medical decision on the next steps."

    Big expectations on Mason

Asked if there is an expectation for Mount to stand up and deliver following his £60million switch to Old Trafford, Fernandes said: "He has a point to prove, like everyone else.

"I have a point to prove. So does Licha [Martinez], Casemiro, Rapha [Varane], Andre [Onana], Harry [Maguire], Victor [Lindelof].

"It's not about Mason. He doesn't have to prove anything more than anyone else.

"He's at a big club and he knows the expectations on him will be big."

    Bruno keeps it frank

Bruno Fernandes called out EIGHT Manchester United players who have a "point to prove".

And that included the new club captain pointing the finger at himself.

The Portuguese playmaker inherited the armband from Harry Maguire this summer and knows the pressure is on to deliver for the Red Devils.

The club had a mixed 2022-23 season with the Carabao Cup win, FA Cup final, third-placed finish but a disappointing European exit and that embarrassing 7-0 thumping at Anfield – in which Fernandes was particularly criticised.

Erik ten Hag signed Mason Mount to bolster the midfield while Andre Onana appears a wise signing to succeed David De Gea between the sticks.

    Maguire bid rejected

West Ham have had a £20million bid for Manchester United ace Harry Maguire turned down, reports SunSport’s Jordan Davies.

The Hammers are pushing to make their first signing of the summer after the record £105m sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal, but this is proving to be yet another failed attempt.

The East Londoners have also had a £40m offer for Chelsea ace Conor Gallagher and a £25m bid for Southampton star James Ward-Prowse rejected.

West Ham boss David Moyes is a big fan of Maguire, 30 – whose contract expires in 2025 – and has been interested in acquiring his services for the past couple of campaigns.

However, the England international's salary is expected to be an issue, while he is also thought to want to fight for his place in Erik ten Hag’s starting line-up.

West Ham are unlikely to go back in for the defender, unless his situation drastically changes.

    United 'continue Amrabat talks'

Manchester United remain in talks to sign Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

According to 90min, United manager Erik ten Hag is keen on adding to his midfield options with Amrabat among his target.

The Morocco international earned plaudits during his stunning performances at the 2022 World Cup.

The 26-year-old ace has also attracted interest from Liverpool, Barcelona and West Ham.

    Rasmus Hojlund bidding war

Manchester United face a bidding war for Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund after Paris Saint-Germain made a bid.

United have opened talks with the Serie A side over a deal, but refuse to match Hojlund's £86million asking price.

The centre-forward is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

But PSG want to hijack the move and have made the Dea an offer of £43m for the highly-rated youngster, report The Athletic.

The French champions are prepared to walk away if the offer is not accepted.

That is good news for the Manchester giants who also submitted an offer in the region of £43m, plus £8m in add-ons.

    Man Utd up Hojlund bid

Manchester United have upped their bid for Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United improved their offer after "direct talks".

The Red Devils have tabled €60million (£51m) and negotiations are still ongoing with the Serie A outfit.

Erik ten Hag's team wants to close the deal for the Denmark international as soon as possible.

That is because the Manchester giants want to focus on other positions as Ten Hag wants his team to be completely ready in time for Premier League kick-off next month.

    Call for more

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called on his team to step up in two key areas following their pre-season defeat to Real Madrid.

Pressing can be better. It was much better against Arsenal.

We can be more compact. We can be more cool with the ball. Nevertheless, we had chances, but we didn't not marked."

We have to work on finishing. That's what we need to improve.

    Cicinho apologises to Man Utd

Former Manchester United target Cicinho apologised to legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson for turning down a move to Old Trafford for Real Madrid.

Today marks the 16th anniversary of my introduction to @realmadrid.

Sorry, Sir Alex Ferguson, but in 2005 @officialrc3 [Roberto Carlos] called Cicinho and in the moment I had to answer.

He asked me if I wanted to come and play with him for the Galacticos.

It was almost all right for me to go to Manchester United, but how could I say no to the chance to be friends with Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, [Zinedine] Zidane, [Luis] Figo, [David] Beckham, Robinho, Raul, Julio Baptista, [Iker] Casillas, Sergio Ramos and so on?

    Cristiano Ronaldo criticism

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been slammed by Odion Ighalo for following the money in Saudi Arabia at Al-Nassr.

When you are young, yes, you play for passion. Back then, you don't care about money.

But at my age, I am in the final stretch of my career, I don't know if it will be one, two years or when God will tell it to stop.

I know it won't be more than three years. I've played for passion all my life, now it's for money.

I'm not one of those players who come and say: 'I play for passion'. Brother, it's money. At the end of the day, it's money.

Is Ronaldo still playing out of passion? Ronaldo has earned 100 times more than I have in my entire life and yet he went to Saudi Arabia. Did he do that out of passion? It's for money, bro."

    More from Beckham

Manchester United legend David Beckham opened up about the moment he found out Lionel Messi will be joining his MLS club Inter Miami.

I was in Japan with the family and woke up at 5am because my phone kept vibrating.

My wife was like, ‘Really?! Turn your phone off!’. I look on my phone and I’m like, ‘What’s happened? Something’s happened!’.

I put my glasses on and I’m like, ‘Leo’s coming! It’s done! He has announced it!’.

My wife was like, ‘What do you mean he has announced it?’. I said, ‘He has gone on TV and said he’s coming to Inter Miami!’. I get goosebumps talking about it.

    Beckham on Messi

Lionel Messi signing for Inter Miami felt as good as walking out at Old Trafford, admits Manchester United legend David Beckham.

I never thought I would have the same feeling as an owner as I had when I was a player.

When I got the phone call, I had the feeling I had when I walked out at Old Trafford or Wembley.

I was like, ‘We’ve just beaten all competition to sign the greatest player to ever play our game'.

    Dwight or wrong

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke admits he is worried about new signing Andre Onana and hopes it doesn't end up badly.

    Yorke told OLBG:

I've said before that Man United need to be careful what they wish for with losing David de Gea.

For all the good De Gea has done for Man United, the way his career ended was really bad, I hope this doesn't come back to haunt Man United now they've bought Andre Onana. Be careful what you wish for.

De Gea is the Golden Glove winner, a high-profile player who has made mistakes, like the rest of us. In my opinion, Onana is not as good as De Gea and people need to watch him very carefully.

I've seen Onana before, the Premier League is a different kettle of fish with how fast the game is and how often you are pressured.

Onana tries to be an outfield player rather than a goalkeeper sometimes.

I will be watching this guy very closely, and the people who have criticised De Gea and wanted him to leave will probably be the ones who will be calling him to come back. I'm hoping that doesn't happen for Man United’s sake.

    Beck in the frame?

Manchester United legend and Inter Miami owner David Beckham has refused to rule out becoming involved in the ongoing takeover saga.

I have a lot going on here at the moment and my focus has purely been on Miami and everything that goes on in my business.

But I haven’t been approached and I suppose any involvement with Manchester United would mean the world to me, going forward.

But who knows? We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks or months.

Hopefully, a decision gets made and if I’m involved in any way… if not, I’ll be a United fan and just do what all the other fans are doing — turn up and watch our team.
