Newcastle make £15m transfer bid for PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo with 20-year-old forward told he can leave | The Sun

NEWCASTLE have submitted a £15million bid for Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to reports.

The Magpies are keen to continue to bolster their squad this summer as they begin to take full advantage of their Saudi Arabian takeover.

Eddie Howe is looking to add an alternative option to Callum Wilson when it comes to who will lead the line for his side.

And according to The Hard Tackle, young forward Kalimuendo has been identified as a player The Toon wish to bring in.

The 20-year-old attacker enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Lens last season, scoring 12 goals in Ligue 1.

He would like to stay at PSG and begin to make waves in the first team, but the depth of talent the French champions have in the forward areas makes that very difficult.

New manager Christophe Galtier boasts attacking players including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Mauro Icardi and Julian Draxler.

As a result, PSG's technical director Luis Campos is keen to sell Kalimuendo this summer despite his contract running until 2024.

However, Newcastle's £15m offer is thought to be short of PSG's asking price – which is said to be in the region of £20m.

And they could well have competition to secure his signature, with Leeds also interested in the young striker.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have been linked with a host of other names in the transfer window.

Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio is a player who has been discussed as a potential arrival at St James' Park.

Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi is another who Howe's side are though to be interested in.

And Everton's exciting young starlet Anthony Gordon could also make the move to the North East.
