Next Wolves manager – latest odds: Bookies name short-price favourite to replace Bruno Lage | The Sun

RUBEN AMORIM is the frontrunner to be the next Wolves boss.

That's according to bookmakers Sky Bet who make the Sporting boss the 5/4 favourite to replaced Bruno Lage.

Lage was ruthlessly sacked yesterday after a disappointing 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers West Ham on Saturday night.

It's understood the Wolves hierarchy made the call within hours of the defeat before informing Lage yesterday.

And fellow Portuguese boss Amorim is the man they are reportedly after as a replacement.

Those in charge at Molineux are set to draft their wish list today, with Amorim understood to be among the top choices.

He took Sporting on a 32-game unbeaten run during the 2020/21 campaign when guiding them to Primeira Liga glory.

That title win was their first for 19 YEARS and was the first title not won by Benfica or Porto during that time.

They have started superbly in the Champions League this campaign too with two wins from two and no goals conceded – including a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

There is a reported £20million compensation fee on his head but the well-regarded coach is the 5/4 favourite with Sky Bet.

Julen Lopetegui is 4/1 second favourite with the firm.

The Sevilla boss is under serious threat of losing his job after a dire start to this season.

Their latest defeat at home to Atletico Madrid over the weekend has their powerbrokers reportedly in talks over his sacking.

This link and move away could prove timely for the 56-year-old Spaniard.

Pedro Martins and Andre Villas-Boas are the next two at 6/1 and 8/1, respectively.

Either option would keep the run of Portuguese managers going after Lage and Nuno Espirito Santo before him.

Martins was most recently in charge of Olympiacos before he was replaced in the summer by Carlos Corberan – who has been sacked since.

While Villas-Boas has been out of work since his sacking from Marseille in 2021 after a public outburst at the club's recruitment policy.

Sean Dyche has been linked with nearly all the vacancies that have appeared this season in the top two divisions and is 10/1.

Porto boss Sérgio Conceição is 12/1 with Joao Moutinho a surprise inclusion at 14/1.

The 36-year-old has been a mainstay in the Wolves midfield this season and would surely not be looking to call time on his career yet.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is 16/1 with Brendan Rodgers at 20/1.
