Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the 2023 US Open due to a wrist injury.
The 28-year-old will now be absent from all four Grand Slams in a calendar year for the first time since he turned professional in 2012.
The Australian missed Wimbledon in July due to a wrist injury, while knee and foot injuries kept him out of Australian Open and French Open.
Earlier this week, Kyrgios dropped out of the top 100 in the ATP rankings due his absence from the Tour.
Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff has also been forced to withdraw from the US Open.
Speaking last month, Kyrgios claimed he would retire from tennis within five years.
‘The schedule is out of control, bro,’ Kyrgios said.
‘I’m getting old. 28. But with all the drinking and partying I’m 57.
’33 is insane. I’m not playing till I’m 33. Once I’m gone, you’ll never see me again.’
