Northumberland Plate horse numbers

1 Rajinsky

SKY high. Ran a cracker when fourth from a wide draw last season. Went well at Chester last time, stays and better stall this time. Not out of it.

2 Rainbow Dreamer

DREAM on. Won over course and distance last time when getting the run of the race. Has won off a similar mark and has place claims again.

3 Calling The Wind

WIND blowing. Excellent second in the Ascot Stakes so handles a big field and stays well. Yard is in decent form and he goes on the all-weather.

4 Berkshire Rocco

ROC fall. Best form around this trip but has been out of sorts this summer. Best form on the all-weather but must raise his game.

5 Omniscient

HEAVEN Scient. Last seen winning a modest handicap in October. Shapes like a stayer and surely has more to offer from staying king Sir Mark Prescott who will have him fit.

6 Zoffee

ZOFF a keeper. Neck second in the Chester Cup but a solid Royal Ascot effort. Won the Vase over C&D last season so trip and track ideal. Place prospects.

7 Post Impressionist

POST haste. Won big 1m6f handicap at York in October and should like this trip. Can cope with 8lb rise for that and is unexposed. Big player on comeback for William Haggas.

8 Adjuvant

ADS up. Easy win at Newmarket over 1m6f latest and should like this trip. Top apprentice on board and looks open to lots of improvement.

9 Second Slip Non-runner

10 Golden Rules

GOLDEN hope. Fourth in 2021 Ascot Stakes and first run since when scoring at Kempton in March. Stays well and Oisin Murphy stays on board. Has few miles on the clock so could improve.

11 Vino Victrix

VIN the money. Has needed both runs on soft this season and is proven over this trip from his second in last year’s Cesarewitch. Acts well on all-weather and has fallen to nice weight. Can go close for in-form Hughie Morrison at long odds.

12 Law Of The Sea

LAW may rule. Been in fine form with podium finishes in three hot staying handicaps this season. Handles a big field and handicapper has him on a fair mark. Every chance for top trainer Ian Williams.

13 Themaxwecan

CAN not. Has struggled in this race twice and didn’t show a lot at Royal Ascot. Needs to find his old spark.

14 Good Show

SHOW up. Landed a nice handicap at Hamilton before struggling in this grade at Haydock. It’s still early days and stepping up in trip may bring improvement.

15 Aztec Empire

AZ to go. Best form on all-weather and hated heavy ground at Newbury latest. Stays well and looks on a fair weight but needs more for this.

16 Sir Chauvelin

SORRY Sir. Third in 2018 but has beaten just one horse home in past two renewals. Was well beaten at Ayr last time.

17 Nathanael Greene

WELCOME Nat. Solid form over 1m6f but didn’t fire at Goodwood last time. Still early days so this longer distance could bring improvement.

18 Matchless

LESS is more. Has solid form at lower levels and wasn’t beaten far at Pontefract last time. Could be helped by this longer trip and can outrun his odds.

19 Green Team

GREEN in red. Last win came as a two-year-old and he has been well beaten since moving to Ian Williams. Coming down the weights but needs much more.

20 Mountain Road

LONG Road. Won a couple of handicaps at Chelmsford and fair effort over this trip at Goodwood latest. Capable of better at this distance.

Templegate's tip

VINO VICTRIX has success on a Plate after a couple of prep runs this season. He has run twice on soft ground he hates which has brought his handicap mark down nicely.

Hughie Morrison’s stayer is now only 1lb above his fantastic second in last season’s Cesarewitch at Newmarket.

He gets every yard of this trip and has gone well on the all-weather before.

Rising star Benoit De La Sayette can steer him to victory at tasty odds.

There are dangers galore with William Haggas hope Post Impressionist having more to offer at this level.
