Nadal needed four sets to overcome both of his opening opponents but has won his last two games in straight sets with relative ease and looks in formidable form.

The Spaniard's fourth round win against the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp booked his eighth Wimbledon quarter-final appearance.

The 36-year-old has already won the Australian Open and French Open this year, meaning should he win Wimbledon and then the US Open in September, Nadal will become the first man since Rod Laver to win all four Grand Slams in a calendar year in 1969.

His opponent today is the 24-year-old Taylor Fritz, who's the only player yet to drop a set all tournament.

The world number 14 overcame the Australian qualifer Jason Kubler 6-3 6-1 6-4 in round four.

The two have met twice before, each picking up one win apiece. The most recent meeting was won by Fritz at Indian Wells earlier this year.

Simona Halep is due first up on Centre Court to take on Amanda Anisimova of USA.

The Romanian is yet to drop a set so far this tournament and is hoping to win her second Wimbledon title to partner her 2019 win.

The world number 18 saw off the world number four Paula Badosa emphatically in the last round, winning 6-1 6-2.

Her opponent today will be playing in her first ever Grand Slam quarter-final, having beaten Harmony Tan in the 6-2 6-3 in round four.

She also notably knocked out her compatriot and last month's French Open finalist Coco Gauff in round three.

The two have met three times before, with Halep leading the head-to-head 2-1.

The Romanian won the most recent meeting, a 6-2 6-1 win in Bad Homburg in Germany last month.
