Peterborough supporter falls head-first over Madejski Stadium barriers after appearing to ‘SPIT’ at Reading fans during Saturday’s League One clash

  • A Peterborough fan regretted their actions in Saturday’s win over Reading
  • The antagonist appeared to try and spit at Reading supporters inside the ground
  • But took a tumble over the dividing railing inside the ground separating fans

A Peterborough supporter was quickly regretting his decision after attempting to antagonise Reading fans in Saturday’s League One clash.

Peterborough walked away from the Madejski Stadium with three points on the opening day of the new season getting underway, but one fan found himself in hot water.

In what has become commonplace in English football clashes, over-enthusiastic supporters being divided by stewards in the stands shout abuse at each other from different sections of the stadium.

The contesting supporters try to unnerve each other and on a rare occasion things turn physical, as was nearly the case in Saturday’s League One encounter.

A video posted to X – formerly Twitter – shows a Peterborough fan climbing over seats that have been covered so as not to be used to get closer to Reading ultras shouting from the other side.

Unsavoury scenes on the opening day of the new League One season took place in Reading’s home defeat against Peterborough

One unfortunate Peterborough supporter took a tumble over a barrier inside the Madejski stadium

The typical foul-mouthed exchange takes place before the visiting fan appears to try and spit over the barrier into the crowd.

However the seemingly disgusting effort doesn’t go to plan as the youthful looking ticket holder soon found out immediately after the attempt.

Head over heels! The fan found himself behind enemy lines amongst Reading supporters after their fall

Rising up to try and elevate himself above his targets, the supporter overcooks his jump and tumbles headfirst over the railing and into the ground.

Falling head-over-heels, he lands in between two stewards who understandably at first don’t appear to understand what has just happened.

The slapstick moment of madness continues as the embarrassed fan quickly realises they have fallen within reach of baying Reading supporters and jumps back to his feet.

There are clutches at thin air by some fans who want to pull the Peterborough aggressor into the crowd, but he is gone as quickly as he arrived and leaps back over the barrier, unhurt but left regretting his actions.
