Premier League star who Wenger called 'interesting prospect' at Arsenal wakes up unemployed at 31 just weeks into season | The Sun

LUTON Town have confirmed the release of former Arsenal midfielder Luke Freeman – who was dubbed an "interesting prospect" by Arsene Wenger.

The 31-year-old was signed by Nathan Jones as a free agent last summer and played a key role in the first half of last season.

Freeman joined the Gunners from League Two's Gillingham in 2008 for a fee of around £200,000.

He signed a two-year deal to become part of Arsenal's youth academy on the club's scholar scheme.

When he moved to the Premier League giants former Arsenal manager Wenger described the player as "a very interesting prospect".

During his four-year spell for the North London side, the midfielder played for the U18 side where he scored seven goals in 15 appearances in the 2008/09 season.
