Punter cashes out for £57,968 after incredible acca… but could have won £425,000 after final leg sensationally WINS | The Sun

A GENIUS Betfair punter was left wondering what might have been despite bagging a whopping £57,000 pay out on yesterday's racing.

The plucky gambler picked five horses across Sunday's meetings at Aintree and Ffos Las and had a big decision to make after watching the first four win.

They opted NOT to let the bet run going onto the final leg, instead cashing out with the bookie for an impressive £57,968 from their £67 stake.

But final pick Credrojava was the 15/8 favourite and just got home in front for Harry Fry to win the 5.05 at Aintree.

It must have been agony for the punter watching on as that narrow success would have landed them a sensational £425,000.

Betfair revealed there was the potential of two big pay outs on the afternoon – but that both were from the same bettor.

That's because they had two different bets on the same five selections.

They had a £1 each-way Lucky 31, meaning they had all the bases covered should only a handful of runners make the places, whilst also having a £5 accumulator on the runners.

The payout was £21,756 from the Lucky 31 and a huge £36,212 from their £5 accumulator.

Those picks included the first three winners at Aintree in Honor Grey (9/1), Dingo Dollar (12/1) and Riders On The Storm (16/1), plus Spring Meadow (7/2) at Ffos Las before what would have been an agonising few hours wait for Credrojava (15/8) later in the day.

Remarkably, Dingo Dollar traded at 251-1 in-running on the Betfair Exchange having been pushed along in the early part of the race before staying on for a cosy win.

Betfair's Barry Orr said: "The customer elected to cash out and bank nearly £58k for his £67 bet.

"I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision to make and he obviously had mixed emotions having seen the last leg win but I imagine there are very few people who wouldn’t have banked the cash.

"His selections were inspired and the second leg, Dingo Dollar, traded at 251-1 in running on the Betfair Exchange but managed to get the job done. Good luck to him."
